Hi all,

I know its probably been covered hundreds of times but what sort of fuel consumption are people getting from the 2.0tdi's?

Ive currently got a 2.0tfsi special edition, ive had it a few years and done a lot too it whether it be preventative or repairing but im just finding im spending too much on fuel when driving it so was thinking of trying to sell it or even swap it for a 2.0tdi version of the same car.

thanks
darren

On my daily commute I only get around 38mpg at best. I live 10 miles away from work and half my journey is up hill with a cold engine. I only use Shell V-Power.

Shell v power all the way !!!
Half a tank does about 180 miles which is mostly town and 3 days a week dual carriageway it is better from what I came from my a3 8l did 75 miles on half tank!!

V Power everytime I have the 170 mapped to 215bhp and I get on average 32mpg around town but on a constant motorway cruise I can easily get it in the 40's

2 for 1...2 tanks of petrol = 1 tank of diesel
After 2 petrol b5s and 2 diesel cars ( 1.9tdi c6 and 2.0tdi a3 ) petrol cars burn double the fuel then the diesels...
In my opinion you cant call urself a car enthusiast and run a diesel...will probably get some angry comments bcs of this but thats just the way it is... ;)
But if youre looking for a diesel take the 1.9tdi which is the best diesel engine in automotive history
Some of my colleagues with 1.9tdis went well over 1 milion km with no problems except turbine reparation on 500-600k while the guys with the 2.0tdis have problems with 200 or 300k km cars...

I agree that diesel car's are not generally for the enthusiast but with Audi's you can generally get more out of them with very little effort and the torque generally makes them a better car for day to day use. Obviously I'm a bit biased here but the overall combination of economy, performance and reliability is what appeals to most diesel owners, the 1.9tdi is a good engine but better off having it in a b6 as the b7 variant isn't as reliable and slightly down on power.

thanks guys.

I used to have a Passat with the 1.9 engine so im pretty familiar with them.

don't get me wrong I love my car and I love how it performs but after having our second baby child and driving the car quite a lot lately I just cant afford to run it like I used too.

Im going to look and see if I can swap it. ive also been looking at bmw 320D's but I know nothing about them so I will probs try and stick with the audi's.

Had my 170BHP 2.0TDI for nearly 3 years now and I've not reset the long trip MPG since I first got it. Averaging 33MPG which is mostly town work with a drive up some A-roads or Motorway once a month where I tend to see 45-ish MPG on those specific trips.

Mine is also a Quattro, so makes it a bit more thirsty.

my 2wd 7SMT 1.8T sline avant goes 550-580 km per tank...2.0TDI with the same spec will do well over 1k km per tank

ive goy the 140 2tdi same as tony mc with no mods thi i get 40/42mpg as long as i let the car warm up as my drive to work is only around 4/5 miles which i do 4 times a day i did have a dtuk box ( off tony mc) which improved mpg to arround 45/46 but had to remove to overboost problems.
i always like to point out my previous car was a subaru wrx saloon runing around 280bph the audi does'nt feel that slow and looks great.

yes Martin, i got a fireblade in the garage, that'll blow 95% of cars on the road away, had loads of t5 volvos and last car was an accord type r, why am i not an enthusiast because i have a diesel, which is probably one of the most modded 140 on here at the minute, dont get that statement at all, maybe 15/20 years ago yeh ?

My cabby is a DIESEL with BBS rims, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats and various engine and other modifications, which incidentally, I’ve done since I got the car, but clearly I’m not a car enthusiast!!!!!.................. Above pics clearly show that I’m not an enthusiast!
oh and I average between 40-45mpg.

Yea have to agree with you not sure why having a diesel means your not a enthusiast if anything maybe more educated as they are nothing to be shy about.

I love my modded diesel. Yes it doesn’t sound like a stonking big V8, but with the stuff I’ve dont to mine, it sounds great and turns loads of heads! And goes like stink.

its a street fighter'd rrv mate probably looks the same but bigger mate lol, its modded a bit as well ha ha,

p.s. i'm not annoyed someone thinks i'm not an enthusiast coz i drive a diesel, its just i dont think you can call it like that any more, not with some of the diesels that are driving about at the minute.

My diesel is a bit of an enthusiasts car with lightweight wheels, wider tyres, lowered suspension and buckets (and those are just the visual ques).

2.0 tdi Quattro saloon mapped to 210 32 mpg on average and that’s the wife driving it!

My 2.0 a4 s line tfsi petrol is doing around 200 miles on a full tank. About £70. Been serviced and filters changed. Checked emissions which are perfect. Not sure if previous owner re mapped it. But was wondering if it can be checked or can just be re mapped to improve mpg (No petrol tank leak) any suggestions?

im in the same boat. really like the car but cant justify the running costs no more.
