Black Edition Rotors......but they have none

Thats good news then! Hopefully mine will tick over from 'Welcome' to something more exciting soon then!!!

So after tracking my car with a bit of scepticism I have today been told that my car is at the dealers being PDI’d so I have arranged collection for Friday....... finally!!..... for info, my order was placed on the 4th July so for those of you with similar order dates the wheel issue hopefully doesn’t affect you..........

Moved to panel shop the morning! That's nearly a week early. Hopefully after the long wait the last few stages will go very quickly. Excitement is building

Lucky you! I still haven't been assigned a build week despite ordering nearly a month ago, hopefully things move along soon.. Was told yesterday that I could be waiting up to another 3 weeks until I am assigned one.

Same here... I'm 6 weeks since I placed the order, and still stuck on welcome... The wait is excruciating....

It does seem a bit random doesn't it. I ordered 31/07 and didn't get a build week (45) until 13/10. @AlnSaz ordered 04/07 and has a build week also of 45 but has had build weeks showing from mid July (if I remember correctly).

Despite not even getting a build week until 13/10, today it says mines in the panel shop!

I've had my BE on order since July but seem to be stuck in QC, when I check the JSOP it says status 20 even though the car was at status 24 last month?

Possibly contact Audi UK live chat, see if they can help they are usually a lot more helpful than the dealer. Hopefully you're already past the rotor issue as you're in QC but it will be interesting to see what they say.

I suppose there's always the chance that something was picked up in QC. On the plus side (for me), mine was only in QC for 1 day and left the factory on the 7th......hopefully with the right wheels!

The funny thing about this car ordering thing is that when I ordered (31/07), the dealer told me to expect delivery around the end of November. That was before the emissions hold up and then the order not progressing to even status 10 until early October due to the wheels issue. Today I've got status 40, on it's way to the dealer!

Status 40 is waiting for pick up from UK docks not on its way to dealer. But should only be a week or so max till at your dealers

You're right, I must've got a bit over excited.......and it looks like it's still at Sheerness today.

Hi guys. This is my first post on here! I went into a dealership on Saturday and ordered the A4 Black Edition with the standard 19” wheels. Then read about all of the supply issues on here. Then got a call from dealer today. Audi aren’t accepting any more orders for this model with the 19” rotors. I can select the gloss black 18s or wait and see if an alternative becomes available. But there’s no indication of how long that might take.

I’m pretty gutted, as thought the black edition in brilliant black with the 19” wheels looks awesome. But in order to actually get a car by the date I need one, I think I’m gonna have to reluctantly switch to the gloss black ones.

Anyone else heard about this halting of orders from a dealership? Cheers.

Negotiate the deal on the car with the 18’s and then negotiate a dealer fit for the wheels of your choice (S4 wheels maybe?)

I’ve asked whether they could swap them for the 18" x 8J '5-spoke dynamic' design alloy wheels, diamond cut finish with 245/40 R18 tyres. (£150 option for S-Line). Will see what they say.

When this wheel issue came up on my order, the dealer categorically told me the only option they had was what we see on the configurator. It's a bit like me asking for the BE, but without the blackened rear windows.......I suggested they could simply use the normal glass - but they can't just swap things about like that. Given the deal I had on the car, I'm guessing they had too little left in it to have it built with the black wheels and then go and give me another set of wheels and tyres once the car was at the dealers.

That was when I contacted Audi directly complaining about the situation and offering to buy a C200, but suggesting they could at least allow me choose any other alloy that's available for the A4.......within days I had a build date. Coincidence probably. At the end of the day, I was in no rush for the car and would've waited anyway.

In case this helps, here's a video my dealer sent me to show the car with the black wheels.

Thanks Paul! That combo does look pretty great actually. Maybe it’s the website renders that don’t do it justice.

Have a look on eBay and YouTube. Plenty of vids of the black wheels on the black edition on there. I personally think they look good and I did consider them for a while. I just think the 19”s fill the wheel arch a little better as it’s quite a large arch.

So, after what has seemed an absolute eternity (order was placed mid September) , I finally have a build date of 22nd January!
Now the long painful wait for it to arrive.

Congrats on your build date! I caved and went for the black wheels. I do like them more now.

I did think about them, but could afford to wait... Did wonder if they were ever going to come through though!

Just at the dealer collecting mine now. My sales exec just told me mine was one of the last to go through with rotors so I was really lucky. Hope you guys don’t have to wait long or get a happy alternative.

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your new car!
Mine has the 19" rotors, so guess Audi must have finally sorted some of the supply issues out on them!

I got my build week today also after ordering start of October! Build date of 12 Feb for me..

I got a call from my dealership today. The rotors are back in stock so they’ve changed my order to include them, estimated build week 5 I think he said. Good news!

Best result if they're the wheels you wanted you'd always look at the car and not quite feel the same about it as nice as it would have been.

So despite me being assigned a build week and me thinking that the 19" alloy issue was resolved, I have just received this email from my dealer..

Hi Jamie – hope your well.

Some updates for you on the factory order we’ve placed for you.
Your alloy wheel is going to be change to a different finish as an extra alloy wheel choice for A4 Black Edition
This create a greater supply of A4 Black Editions, we’ve made a third alloy wheel option available for this trim. The alloy wheel PQI is now a no-cost option on Black Edition; this wheel is currently a cost option on S line and S4 models.

This is really good news for you and we’ll advise further later in December.

Best regards.

Bare in mind I have not seen which the alloys in question, and the dealer/Audi have just decided to change these.. Has anybody else heard anything similar? Obviously I could prefer these new alloys, and it could potentially speed up my order which would be happy days, but on the other hand I could prefer the previous alloys which I chose on order!

I imagine that it'll be the 19" V-spoke wheels that are the £500 option on an S4? The B8.5 RS4 wheels as people sometimes call them.

These are the alloys in question.. I'm not sure which ones I prefer to be honest, I think I prefer the original BE version. What do you guys think?

My dealer has said "Keep a watch on the web for a couple of days. The original wheel order has now been deleted and replaced with this upgrade wheel only."

Ive not been told anything like that from my dealer. Just checked the json file for my order and it is definitely showing the rotors, so seems its not all orders.
Agree with Daggerit that it is the vspoke. Would be the ones I'd choose if I couldn't have the black rotors.

Would you choose them over the BE 19" alloys? I'm not sure I would.. I will check my JSON now also to see if it has changed.

Interesting... when did you place your original order? Mine was about a week ago and whilst initially was told I couldn’t have the rotors, a week ago they said they were back in stock. I haven’t heard anything about a third wheel option from my dealer.

No, the BE are definitely my first choice (especially with daytona), but if it was the only way to get the car this side of next century....
