I appear to have broken the diff in my car and looking for a replacement dsg gearbox but have been told to look at a dq500 box but was wondering what issues I’m going to have as my cars MQB I know about the component protection but unsure if I can use a dq500 from a earlier car

What stage were you, torque and horsepower?

The DQ250 should have been able to handle that power easily, they start having issues over 600hp. Strange.

The DQ500 can be installed but it is quite costly to do so unfortunately, that's the reason I am sticking with the DQ250 even though I should have close to 600hp soon

It needs to be an RS3 8v/TTRS 8S dq500 for this to work.

Surely power isn’t th issue, it’s the torque?

Torque when launching could be, solution is to control torque for first two gears

Gearbox casing on the DQ250 is weak, if you've stripped gears / cracked casing once you will do it again. Everyone has their own driving styles and mechanical sympathy thresholds so its unjust to say I am running so and so, you will be fine. Rule of thumb on a tuned car if it breaks uprate it. Replace with a DQ500 - no brainer.
