Ive seen a few videos from America of people racing tuned s5s against e92 m3s and not really pulling away. This can't be right surely?

What do you mean by "not really pulling away"? What do you mean by racing - round and round on a circuit, standing start on a streaming wet road surface or on a dry road surface? What are the skill levels of the drivers?

There are tuned S5's (V6T) which are running 11 second 1/4 mile times. Stage 2 S5's are pretty darn quick. For the pre-facelift V8 cars, JHM (JH Motorsports) offers a supercharger kit. That'll also outrun an E92. Plus, when the E92's rod or main bearings fail, the car becomes as fast as the flatbed that's towing it to the shop.
