Folks,

Im looking for some info on a downpipe for an Amk S3 as it looks like my one is leaking at the flexi. I had new cats fitted earlier in the year as my emissions were high but im now looking to replace the downpipe with a standard one. Do the ones from an Audi tt fit or what is my best option..
Car is standard and ive replaced the cats and dont need a decat pipe..

Thanks

If you want a 3” there’s a Powerflex one on fleabay but quite expensive. If not there’s loads of second hand one one there.

I was looking for an original style one and they do sell TT ones on euro car parts - not sure if they are exactly the same, but they are apparently a total nightmare to fit, hence advice to remove old is to cut through the flexi-pipe.

I really struggled to get the original downpipe off my TT when I swapped it for a 3 inch decat downpipe. It came out in several pieces. You would really have to lower the subrame all the way and disconnect the steering rack to get an OE downpipe in and out .

I was lucky that my flexi pipe had gone - so could withdraw after cutting off the cats, but I still needed to take the head off as the nuts were rusted to dust. Can a standard downpipe be fitted from the top - or does it have the hanger in the way too?

Head gasket was leaking in any case and timing belt and water pump had an "unknown" last change. I couldn't reach anything and the nuts were ruined and I needed to change the studs too. I spent 3 hours trying from underneath the car with rusty crap falling into my eyes and took the head off in about 2 hours - problem with all this of course is you find the cracks in the turbo hotside and manifold. then I was going to change the manifold but was told the fake relentless pipe I bought is rubbish so don't bother, also it didn't fit without removing the heat shield etc etc etc. fitted the downpipe in through the top too (cut off the hanger)

Folks.
Car is in garage and they phoned to say that the flexi downpipe is leaking.
I fitted 2 new cats earlier this year so no point in binning them. Is there a performance flexi downpipe or can a custom one be obtained that will mate up to the twin cats or do i have to have to use a standard audi or equivalent twin downpipe.

Thanks

The flexi pipe probably went because the new cats restricted the flow - I think standard cats are 400 cell each - whereas a sports cat is only one 200 cell.

I think if you can confirm the TT version fits an S3 EuroCarParts sell them - but you can get ebay downpipe and sports cat for less than the downpipe.

or a second hand one - hmm why is the sensor still in there? seized?

this is an absolute joke!!! I bought my 3inch downpipe and 200 cel cat from team2fast for £130 why are they charging the same as pipewerx?
