Greetings from Mexico! I’m still status 38 so I think you left me behind in Emden @K4R3N_86

However, the dealership sent me an e-mail on Monday and have pencilled in the 1st December for collection (two days after I get back).

Hope you both get your dates confirmed soon!

The ships leave Emden for Sheerness, Tyne or Grimsby. Your car should go to whichever port is closest to your dealership in the uk.

As I knew I was waiting on a ship to Sheerness, I started watching what ships were due to depart Emden for Sheerness, which gave me some hope as to when it might be coming over. If possible, ship-watching on marinettaffic.com is even more addictive (and frustrating) than that audi tracker!

I was surprised how quickly mine came over from Emden, think I may have been lucky with getting a ship so soon.

The 01st Dec? It will be a nice welcome home present for you!

Ahh gotcha! I'd guess it'll be Grimsby for me then. I'm in the Midlands so it could be Sheerness, but Grimsby is probably more likely.

Marinetraffic is quite shocking; who knew there were that many ships out there.

It's finally on a ship!!

Thinking it's on City of St Petersburg and should be in Grimsby at 4pm. It's getting closer!

Yay! Hopefully not too long now. I spoke to the guy at Audi dealer on Friday and he said that all being well it takes about a week once it’s in the UK so I’m hoping to pick mine up next weekend. Fingers crossed

Slightly OT, but does anyone know if the cars are supplied with mats as standard?
 
Finally, my build week is almost here! My S3 is due to begin construction on Monday 27th November!

My dealer (Newcastle Audi) has gave me an estimated delivery date of 29th December, but also said they hope I might be able to collect prior to Christmas. From everyone's experience, do you think a pre- Christmas collection will be possible??

I have the advantage that the car will arrive from Germany at Port of Tyne which is right next to the prep centre and only a 20 minute drive to the Newcastle Dealership!

you're the week before me, I'm BW 49 (4th December) - when I was given my order number by someone at Stockport Audi, they said that it should be here between Christmas and new year. but when I spoke to the person who sold me the car he said week 2 of January was more likely due to Christmas / new year.

really hoping it comes straight out the factory and onto a ship, but being here before the new year might be a little too optimistic

Not yet.. should be at dealership tomorrow. Spoke to the guy yesterday, he is going to call me tomorrow to confirm, all being well he said if I can pop in and get papers signed on Thursday or Friday, I should be able to pick it up at the weekend. All depends if it makes it way to the dealership tomorrow I guess..

Is your car at Grimsby now @davemk ?

Getting close for you both now! My car has finally left Emden according to the tracker so I might still make the 30th/1st for collection (unless I get landed with an annoying meeting in my absence which takes me elsewhere).

Can’t wait to see your photos!

Shouldn't be too long until yours is in the UK then. Have you looked on marinetraffic.com to find out which ship it's likely to be on?

No Dave, as I’m away until next Monday I’m just letting it do its thing If I was at home however I definitely would be!
 
@KeithJLambert I have been following its every move, like a true geek. I've no idea what I'll do with my time when it arrives :D .

Getting tangible now.

Have registration.
Insurance sorted.
GAP sorted.
Going in on 28th to sign paperwork and pay remaining deposit.
Collecting on 5th :)

Paperwork tomorrow, aim to collect Saturday morning. The sales guy even sent me a sneaky pic of my new car! :yahoo:

@K4R3N_86 Tango makes a nice change from the usual colours. Had a pearl red Golf and it really stood out.

Ah ha brilliant! Great colour @K4R3N_86 expect a friendly honk if I spot you and your A3 in Crawley. I can't imagine there's too many of those in RH10! What a great Saturday you have to look forward to....

Hi @davemk - yes thank you, all went to plan. Picked the car up last night in the end. Not the wisest decision I’ve made considering my first time driving her was in the dark, in rush hour.. took a bit of getting used to as came from a 58 plate Ford Fiesta. But she is beautiful and a real head turner! Really pleasant handover experience, nothing too over the top, spent 40 minutes with me going over controls and setting up my iPhone. Will be you and @KeithJLambert next hopefully?

Glad all went well, @K4R3N_86 . Definitely a step up from the Fiesta :) . My wife has one. That's the next to be changed.

Yes, I hope it's soon. No movement on the tracker. I emailed the dealer today to see if they have an expected date for arrival with them. No reponse as yet.
