A3 8P Genuine factory windshield manufacturer

Hello to everyone,

I've noticed on my A3 8P that all windows including front windshield are from different manufacturer.
They are all factory genuine windows, they all have Audi sign and same year of production on itself.

Front Windshield is Guardian, front side windows are Saint Gobain, rear windshield and rear side windows are Pilkington.

What was the genuine OEM factory windshield manufacturer for A3 8P pre-facelift?
 
Well maybe in different periods - years of production or maybe even depending of auto market they put different glass manufacturers. Mine is 2005 and has Guardian, but also few others 2006, 2007 I've seen they all had Guardian.

And what about windshield tint darkness percentage and colour? Is there difference beetween factory windshield Guardian, Pilkington, Saint Gobain glasses in view of tint colour and darkness. Mine Guardian windshield is just on the top of it mildly tinted.
 
My 8P was for Switzerland market, bought it there and every single one I've seen in Switzerland had Pilkington glass. So probably market dependent.
 
Mine was for Dutch market. Maybe others with 8p's from different markets could confirm it.

I've taken a look to windows today and just rear windshield (Pilkington) has TINTED sign on it, while all others including front windshield don't.
Beside that windows are from different manufacturers they all have colour something between green and clear.
 
Generally what OEM glass is better Guardian or Pilkington? And is there any difference between them since the price for the same windshield is identical.
 
I think both Guardian and Pilkington are high quality products. Guradian is USA brand, Pilkington is from Japan (if I am not mistaken). While deciding between the two, just go with the same one as you had previously on the same car I guess.
 
Local windshield suppliers could't tell me the difference in colour. tint etc between Pilkington and Guardian. And they don't have it in services right away so I can decide when I see them, first I must order one than see it...
