Needle sweep activation in VCDS, supported or not in B7 platform.

As in the title really chaps, i'v been doing some tweaks in vcds this afternoon which all went well except for needle sweep, just could not get anywhere with it.
Having trawled the interwebby there seems to be mixed reports wether it is possible or not, or even supported in the B7 platform, some say it is but only in the very last B7's but B8's it is configurable, can anyone clarify the situation.

Rs4 only, anything else may need modifiying via eeprom editor, not possible with VCDS.
 
Ok , thanks for update chap , I did see somewhere that it is possible on the B7 if one fitted a VFIZ module but not 100% to be honest and also an expensive route to get it.

Are you sure for a B7 RS4? Do you have any further details?
I'd be interested in this if its possible but I was under the impression its not.

Not possible without swapping the dash, can see a handful of problems coming when doing that.

now that is handy, if it is doable on the rs4 B7 then It should be possible for me to do it on my soon to arrive beasty then....at least I can get it for free on something...
 
I wouldn’t be wasting my money on the Spec Ed (It’s ok as it is for a daily) I’d be saving it for the RS4

I'm only investing on the bits that need doing on the spec ed carl after all it is special.... the needle sweep would have been nice as a freeby on the old bus but would not spend cash to get it setup just for that function......I've already lashed out enough for the RS carl....the coffers are a bit low now...
 
I thought it was only the multicolour dis dash that could do the needle sweep?
 
The needle sweep can be configured if you have VFIZ. I'm not sure about the RS4 cluster, if it inherently does it or can but I believe it became available starting on the B8 models for the A4's.

If you were to fit a RS4 cluster you would run into immobilizer issues so you would have to send your original cluster and the new one to get cloned before fitting it in. There's a company that specializes in this particular thing since it's not easy. Check out http://www.speedosolutions.com/
 
Done a bit more research and its not possible on the a4 B7 , VFIZ is a lot for just getting needle sweep etc so going to pass on it for the old bus , will most certainly be looking to get it setup on the RS4 though.

If I were you I'd put the 500 in the RS4 pot which you will undoubtedly need.
Unless you've won the lottery etc..
The RS tax on most things is ridiculous..

No point having a nice dash if there's an expensive job needs doing to keep the car on the road

I think i'll be needing a fair bit more than that Mike.......I was hoping to keep it standard but I've now seen a few nice subtle mods for it .....now where is that euromillions ticket..lol

I've had my RS4 for 2 and a half years now.
I've probably spent close to 50% of the purchase price getting it all sorted..

I hope the brakes are in tip top condition, don't fancy having to lash out on a new set of 380mm ceramic discs for a good few years....I might aswell just leave my CC with audi..
 
Ceramics should last a lifetime..

I can honestly say mike , i'm not that lucky , I could be in the middle of the amazon and still be hit by a lump of space debris..lol
some people are just lucky , i'm not.
 
Ok..
What I've done is keep an eye out for bargains that might be needed in the future.
Front discs 540 expensive but cheap etc..
You'll need a good indy, feck dealers at 140/hour

VFIZ does a lot more than needle sweep, a lot of on screen data from ecu
 
ah right - you got one of those fiz boxes or whatever they're called?
 
FYI cluster swap is actually really easy to do.

Immo issues on ours are no where near as bad as A3 8P etc. Hence why mine is now running an S4 cluster with colour screen (all done by myself) RS4 clusters are still major money though and imho dont look as nice.

No its in my head unfortunately haha.

You cannot do with with VCDS alone thats all I will say. I charge good money to code these in for customers so don't really want to give all my knowledge away for free. I had that issue back in the golf mk4 days

I googled VFIZ, realised what it is.

I have FIS-Control, a smaller product, wonder if it's possible with that. Gonna have to figure out the menus as I only use the pre sets views so far.
