As in the title really chaps, I have a few jobs lined up for my old bus in the coming weeks and I suspect decoking the inlet is going to be on the list .
I was hoping to get a better understanding on just how bad the problem can be and how gunged up the inlet gets, so, any chance of some pics of the offending area and what sort of milage your engine was on when the pics were taken.
I suspect mine is pretty bad to be honest but would be nice to see what i'm dealing with as mines on 64k miles at present and have had odd runner flap error in vcds recently.

any info or pics would be most welcome.

I thought it wasn't really an issue with the forced induction tfsi engine?

Plus it will just come back after it's been cleaned anyway?

Its a big issue with the tfsi in the B7 , the pcv setup used makes it worse.
When done i'm fitting a pcv delete and catch can , also doing the runner flap delete and full intercooler flush.
hopefully that will break the closed loop of continual recirculating of the blowby gases full of contaminates and oil leading to the carbon buildup that occurs so badly, if the intake air is clean and free from nasties then the build up should be reduced to a very minimum.

Look into getting meth injection this massively reduces the issue due to adding a non-direct injection system to the intake which thus will keep those inlet valves from clogging

Meth will help brad but will far from cure it. You will still need to mod the pcv setup to stop the engine dumping into the intake track.

Excellent work chap, just the info and pics I hoping to get.....
Were yours that bad at 38k miles mark...that's pretty barn bad , I bet you noticed the improvement after they were cleaned.
thanks for the great link chap.

just relised mark, that is the thread I originally saw when I first looked into the problem.....could 'nt find it again when I wanted it, big thanks for putting up the links again.

cheers

No prob.

The cleaning i did was in preparation for my intercooler/exhaust/remap. With the car on 38K miles the amount of build up was really surprising as was the amount of oil sitting in the inter-cooler system.

I must say Mark the oil residule in the intercoolers is unacceptable, I have drained both intercoolers twice in the last year and the amount that comes out is mad, I've noticed that the offside one has allways had the most....
hopefully with what I have planned it will reduce it to a minimum for the future.
