Evening all, having read a few articles today on the subject of the B7 DRC setup being problematic and leaking etc I was hoping to get a better overview of what the possible solutions would be should the worse happen and it needed replacing.
As I understand it the system is all linked and works on opposing corners to help maintain a flatter ride etc when cornering, which sounds a good setup.
If however the system became problematic what can be done , and how can the DRC be kept if using different dampers/coilovers etc , or is it either factory setup with DRC or no DRC full stop.

The only way to keep DRC is to buy replacement shocks then have the system refilled. The main problem is the shocks leaking and once one shock goes the chances are it's opposite will need replacing as you don't want the cost of around £220 to get it refilled and it goes again. Then you have the cost of the shocks which are not cheap either so you are left with aftermarket.

If you go aftermarket you have standard shocks and springs (koni) or coilovers which will mean no DRC as there is no alternative to link in to the DRC system. Personally I would go coilovers and will be very soon as my rear shock is already misting so I have already bought Bilstien b14 to go on.

Thanks for the reply, you have pretty well summed up what I suspected to be honest.
From my understanding the Avant I have purchased doesn't have any issues with the factory DRC setup thus far but that's not to say it may not decided to leak as soon as I get it home.
I have bilstein B8's with H&R springs on my current A4 special edition and find it to be a very good setup so if the need arises I may well take you advise and go B14's on the RS.
many thanks for your help.
