Hi all, ive jumped from my first S3 8l i purchased back in 2000 brand new to an 8p S3 (stage 2+ until it cracked a piston) and now back to an old and slightly worn (168k) S3 8P.

Wheeled her home the other night, first few things i noticed was the torque steer up the road, like its in 2wd.
Also the lights are dim as fck i guess some new bulbs are needed. Any pointers or links on how i check 4wd is actually working!?!

Going to post my progress along this thread bringing her back to original beauty.

Best way to check 4wd is scan it for fault codes. Also the headlights even new with new bulbs they are not great and the lenses are probably faded witch will restrict light output have a search for @tr8ups headlights

If front wheels spin up really easily, that's a sure sign rear wheels are doing nothing.

I've seen some youtube footage of people putting their cars on 4 jackstands and running it in 1st gear to check the haldex.
 
Thanks for your input so far yes i read same about jacking up wheels.. ok ive found this thread, could of be lots of issues, noticed also ESP button not working, dash light isnt coming on. I need an ODB tool Vcds-lite download seems not available, i have an old china lead here no software. Any advice?

More i look at this car, the more of sad state i realise my poor S3 is in, sat in it last night, didnt realise the whole of the headlining is stapled to the ceiling :( Its a minger! But i want to change all that.

It has 168k and a stapled roof lining, more than welcome in the 8l section. Fit right in.

Dont tell anyone because i have an 8p S3 but the 8l was the best and classic A3 in my opinion..

Ok I started off tonight giving it a bit of a cut with Maguiars 205 to bring the paint back up. Issue no.1 the wing mirrors are corroded, anyone seen this? Im not sure of my options? However as i recollect on my old 8p S3 the mirrors were more polished aluminium. Im pondering taking some fine say 1000 grit wet n dry to them and laquer? Thoughts?
