Facelift Best S3 Saloon Spec. Under £40k ?

I thought that about the Stronic until I drove the missus’ DSG golf with HH. For £75 it will be first on my list next time, it is very useful. Obviously not to stop rolling back as it’s an auto, but when you stop the HH holds/releases the car in an instant so no need to sit with foot on break at lights or in traffic etc. Trust me, it’s handy. Just shows what drivel the salesmen/women are capable of.

Why the hell don't audi just integrate hill hold into the one hand brake button ?

Charging £75 notes for this is taking the **** imo - albeit I accept a lot of you like it - but it should be standard, like a lot of equipment !

@Pook - Agreed ^
I have / had HHA on both a manual & a s-tronic A4/S4 & find it equally as useful on both

Nope, they won't let me!!! It's either keep RS3 , sell A4 Avant and get an S5 or sell both and get RS4... ho hum.. any offers for either?? I have use of my sons Polo so open to offers.

I literally love this feature, driven auto's without the anti-creep as I like to call it and I hated them. Keeping my foot on the brake is a PITA.

Not sure how much prices have increased now but a Saloon with Tech Pack and comfort pack hits just shy of 40K so a 40k saloon with a decent spec is now a thing of the past.

You need the Saloon in your next car life, don't do another Sport back....its a totally different looking car from every angle, says me coming from a 2015 S3

@The Challinor - Agree, unfortunately :(
Damn that £40k limit !

It’s the principle more then anything, totally screwed these tax rates and no incentive for manufacturers to reduce emissions / improve economy anymore.

I’d either do sub 40k or at least want to be a few thousand over to make it worthwhile.

Tempted by the saloon but running my own IT company and liking Ikea I felt a SB was more practical.

In my defence it’s my first Sportback that I’ve tarted up to look like a mini estate with the roof rails.

Would actually be useful to put the 29’s on if I dare...

Order in for RS4. Anyone want to buy my lovely RS3 for under £40k. Huge spec. Will be sorry to see her go. PM if interested.

Bin the Hill Hold Assist, the salesman at my dealership said that it was pointless as Stronic don’t need it, he was spot on I have never needed in the last two months of ownership, I can see that it would be useful on a manual.
Hill hold assist is the best money you will spend on options!!

I will need to sell her by March but would consider letting her go now as I have other vehicles I can use. She really is very special but reducing to one daily driver from the current two makes sense now my mileage is reducing.

Ah - that’s the one!!

3 years of no rear cup holder and “Dad can I have my drink please” so I splashed £250 (?) for some peace and quiet. I’m sure it will be my favourite option.....

I have the through load and split rear seat and you get a decent armrest in the back too!

It's obviously far more difficult with the saloon. I wanted the tech pack and matrix lights and those two things alone push the saloon over £40k so I decided I wasn't going to compromise my spec for the sake of £310 extra per year.

ln my opinion the Matrix headlights are not worth the £895

Well no, £895 for fancy headlights is a stretch in anyone's book but, as you say, that's your opinion and everyone places a different value on different options. I'll see what I reckon come the time :)

Surely it stops creep without having to sit with your foot on the brake or manually engage the handbrake?

Only my opinion but normal Led lights with High Beam Assist would have been just as good,Matrix are gash in heavy fog...best to switch off and don't provide anymore illumination when its ******* down than standard led headlights,l drove 500 miles in all off these weather conditions when l picked up my car from London and drove up to Glasgow,so l got to grips with them from day one...your paying all that money for a fancy front cascading indicator

You guys are mental, it makes such sense on a S-Tronic to prevent it creeping and having to keep your foot on the brake.

Yep!

I’d hate to have a car without it, the BM 3 series hasn’t got it and I found it annoying.

Agree with @The Challinor on this one
I've had HHA on both manual & s-tronic A4's and found it equally as good on both GB's TBH
Will always be the 1st option box I tick if I ever buy another Audi

Still, I don't have to worry about spec'ing HHA on the Cupra as its standard :whistle2::D

Going off topic the wife fancies a Ateka next and the kit leaves are pretty good over at Seat. Options ain’t too pricy either.

Even the previous generation Fiesta which was on sale from 2008 had hill hold assist as standard! Not to mention the heated front windscreen as standard, which is one of the biggest things I miss from my old car, since getting an A3.

I ain't got hold assist and l ain't gonna loose any sleep over it, stop start stops the car creeping forward..... Not having Hold assist is truly a miniscule 3rd world issue guys.......

If I am sitting in traffic I put the gear selector into N, so no creep forward.

I don’t have hold assist. However I’ve noticed that on a gradient after taking my foot off the brake the car will not roll back for around 2/3 seconds. Very handy with parking on an incline. I assume this is standard? Does hold assist have its own switch?

Hold assist has it's own switch to the left of the parking brake. Just leave it on and when you stop touching the brake pedal will activate it, although sometimes happens on its own. Great!!

I could very easily stress over this, honestly could not live without it. Just makes life easier, give it a more autonomous like feeling.

Should be called hold assist really as it’s used all the time not just on hills.
