I seem to have an intermittant fault, it dosents show up in any scan I have done. I read various posts on IMF faults. Sometimes it shuts down in the smoothest way possible. Anyone hear reckon it's a sympton of a worn DMF? Recorded it this morning popping into halfords.

I had the same on my RS3, gearbox mount was failing. Once replaced no flutter at all. Does yours happen in low gears over bumps when there’s load on the gearbox too?

I read posts about that too but found it strange as to why it does it more so on inclines. Haven't really noticed it over bumps but it's worth checking thanks for that jay.

I know on mine at low speeds obviously it was more apparent as the road noise was very minimal so I could hear it. High speeds nothing what so ever and not forgetting low end gears will have more load on the gears too so it will be interesting to see if you have the same.

Is it the rubber In the subframe that deteriorates?

The standard car uses very compliant rubber in these mounts to give a soft take-up of power and isolate the cabin from drivetrain noise. For a daily driven standard car, these bushings do a good job of keeping cabin vibration to a minimum. But when you ask more of these mounts, with higher power or hard driving, the flex in the bushes becomes very noticeable. This gives a slightly loose feeling to the drivetrain and an increased chance of wheel-hop under hard acceleration as the whole engine and ‘box assembly judders.

Checked the mounts today all seemed fine apart from the dogbone , on one of the bolts managed to get 1/4 of a turn in before it was tight. Seems fine for now then again the problem is intermitant. will have to wait and see if it returns.
