OK so I checked all the pressure and then stored them on the mmi. I tried to see what pressures were showing but after reading the book it says you have to drive to see them and that it can take 10 mins for them to show!

So I went for a drive and then switched to the tyre pressure option, it said can only be accessed when stopped, BUT I could see the picture of the car which I assume should also show the tyre pressure in each tyre?!?

Does it take a awhile to link up to the mmi once they have been stored and you go driving? I was out for about 15 mins.

Thanks

I don't think the system reads the actual tyre pressures but the difference in the rotational speed of each wheel using the ABS sensors. Thus when a tyre starts to deflate the rotational speed gets slower...

Ahh right, so it just lets you know if there is a sudden loss of pressure, like it did on the S3? I thought with it being a higher model it would show what was in each tyre in real time so to speak!

No it works on the ABS sensors and picks up a change in rotation as Cuke2u says.

Good safety system - I ha a slow puncture on my old car and wouldn’t have picked it up as quickly as visually it looked ok but had lost around 10PSI

Hmm so it doesn't show you what is in each one..like this for example:

Nope and it doesn't give you the individual temperatures of each tyre like this......perhaps in an RS model but who know

OK thanks, saves me looking for something that's not there :)

Cost cutting. ... passive TPMS fitted to audi... active TPMS fitted to my previous bmw 3 series / x3 ... was a bit shocked at the S4 having passive system ..

It’s an optional extra. ABS version is standard due to European regulations. If you want that proper pressure monitoring with the radio transmitter valves you need to pay extra.
