Just a general throw out there as I know a lot of us if not most have quite a connection with our current motors, PFL or FL.

What's everyone thoughts on what car to go from next in a couple or 3 years time? For me, although the new platform A3 will be out, the RS will still be a couple of years away? So, keep hold until then or move up to hopefully slightly discounted RS4's or possible Xdrive M3/4's??

i will be well into my 50's so assuming i can work, feed myself and dont need adult nappies, i will probably get a car in keeping with my age, like a used Prius

Or if you do end up wearing the nappies (which I’m sure you won’t) there’s nowt wrong with an new RS4 Avant OR C63s estate. Park them anywhere with a Blue badge thing.

Yeah I’ve been considering this now as will be ordering a new car Sept next year.

Definitely not another RS3 as the brakes and now endless rattles in the car are pi$$ing me off plus the current platform 3 is at the end of its life.

For me it will be ....

Audi S4
Audi S5
Merc C43 AMG
new Merc A45 AMG

You’d be very disappointed with the S4/S5 Engine, noticeably slower and quieter than the S3.

I'm holding out for new model RS3 so perhaps a RS4 to bridge the gap as don't really want to go beyond 3 year warranty period in the RS3.

Well that looks great, always loved an Avant.

I drove an S5 and didn't know any facts or figures except for 350hp. It felt good and had good pull, it made a good noise but quiet.

I wasn't convinced it was that fast while driving it, I got back in my S3 and it instantly felt noticeably quicker so I went home to check the stats and was surprised to see it's slower to 60.

I'm sure they will sound good with an exhaust system.......

Off I go to spec an RS4, with my RS3 on the train on its way over haha.
RS4 is too expensive, but it won't stop me asking my dealer for a loan when they get one.
So you can't spec the RS4, RS5 it is

S4 looks a cracking car

Especially for the price they are.

I nearly bought one but just couldn’t get on with the stick on MMi screen.
At least on the FL RS3 I’ve ordered it still folds away.

At the moment I’d say the A45 AMG would be No1 contender as love the hatch style & practicality plus it will be brand new ... & I’ve had 4 Audi’s back to back in 10 years.

What does that tell you? You love and belong in an Audi :p

I personally really dislike Mercedes haha. The A45 annoys me if I’m honest. Without the Aero pack they look rubbish.

Agreed they look like hairdriers! Saying that the new A145 might look better
I think the old model C55 AMG looks the nuts, but the new C class!!! Wtf are Merc playing at there new curvy design look awful imo.

Yeah I know & I may still end up in an Audi again lol but my choices will be limited to a degree this time next year.

Even if I waited for a new platform S3 that couod be 2020 so that’s out. Current RS3 too similar to what I have now & then towards the end of its life. So S4 & S5 are the only viable cars I can think of ... unless there are any decent nearly new RS5’s or 4’s going for sensible money :)

As soon as he started it sheepishly asking "what's going on people?" as if anyone could answer him, I knew the video was not for me.

My next door neighbour has had a couple of Merc’s, the new C class like you said are like bubbles. Really boring looking car, extremely unflattering.

But being a person who hates Mercedes, I’m not the right person to ask. I don’t know why, I just really have always disliked them. So you can understand how disappointed I were when my grandparents said they were thinking of an A Class. I went on the test drive, in a terrible mood and determined not to be won over. Needless to say, we popped in Audi and they have an A3 Saloon.

Give me chance to put some miles on the RS3 and tell you whether the brakes squeal ;) I’m almost worried how good the new S3 will be in 2019/2020 compared to the RS3. But I must say if they change that to a touch screen, I will be less bothered. Also the new A7/A8 grill is huge, now I’m an unconditional lover for Audi but the obnoxiously large grill and touch screens inside, cross the line for me.

Have you driven the new RS3? Even the impossible Chris Harris loves it, that’s saying something... even our very own TX admitted he was eating his words ;)

He’s alright, his knowledge is minimal but I think he’s a fan of the VAG group and rather than a biased Chris Harris, his reviews and comments are more real-world and he gives a good insight into the cars.

You’re doing the best thing moving from an S3 to an RS3 so that’s perfect and you’ll love it. Hey the brakes are not a deal breaker just an annoyance I have grown to live with. It’s an awesome car: fact :)

By the time I change in 12 months or so as I keep my cars 3 years would I then want another RS3 for a further 3 years ?

I’m sure the new RS3 is even better than the pre FL and I love it’s styling and digital Speedo ... so don’t worry about the brakes or bedding them in too specifically. Just enjoy the car - the mica pup :sunglasses:

By previous Audi form, last orders on the FL can't be that far away - early 18 at the latest. Next RS3 to be in 2020 - 21......

I hope so because I unconditionally loved that car, haha. The RS should look pretty :D

You’d have to see where you are in 12 months time, but the way I see it.. engines are downsizing and I think we are in the last generation of proper RS engines (not including the RS4/5). I can see this being the last 5 cylinder ever from Audi. It will be well gone 2020 by the time we see another and the UK plans to abolish all petrol/diesel cars by 2040... :/ What a crap plan.

The Mica Pup  Very excited....
It’s strange the car actually exists now... some lucky German sod’s have been blessed with the sight of it already, yet here is me not knowing what it looks like
It is strange how it goes from an order form to a real thing, my real thing is currently sat on a train travelling across Germany :scared2:

Agreed, orders won’t run past March next year I doubt. Buy now or forever regret it! Like I’ve said above, I don’t think there will be another 5 cylinder....

But then again, the 5 cylinders have to be a better alternative to the 3.0 V6?

Not another for many years :lmfao:

I’ve spent all my pennies on this one ;) 4 years on PCP, then move out.. that’s the plan. The plan is to keep the RS3 past the 4 years, I will finance the remainder.

Unless I get a much better paying job that can cover both, unlikely to happen that soon ;)

Thanks mate! And yeah I don’t really class myself as a full on reviewer, I just like giving a quick insight into what the cars are like in the real world. Knowledge wise I do know my VAG cars well, just trying to keep my videos a bit easier going to watch. Still learning that balance as I go along tbh.

Re: S4, it’s great but as mentioned earlier in thread it doesn’t really feel any faster than the S3. Nice exhaust sound but a bit quiet. Sport diff option is also good as the car felt quite agile at the rear. Overall I do find my FL S3 more fun.

No worries, like I said I enjoy the reviews.. better than Chris Harris and alike saying the car is boring and has no soul because it steers straight on the track.

TR Hamza is almost universally positive about what he reviews, which makes a nice change from the default approach of bashing everything you normally get on t’internet. Having watched his review he does at least comment on how it feels different due to the V6 engine and the Torsen system with a Sport Differential.

BMW need to wake up and smell the coffee - an X-Drive M car would hoover up many an RS3/4/5/6 order!

I quite fancy a used Huracan Spyder as it happens but like for like, then I might hold out for the new A45 when it comes out IF if looks nicer inside and sounds better.
I think the missus is looking to get back into a BMW. I'd love to see an M3 Sporting personally.

My next car must be faster than my RS3 and have four wheel drive! If i can afford one i will probably buy a used F90 M5. It would be nice to own a V8 before they disappear due to regulation.

Agreed, probably my fav car as it now has 4x4 but switchable, but £90k!

I specced one and it came to £93K as it includes all the options you need as standard. Maybe an M3 with 4x4

Then again £90K is how much the Audi crooks want for a high spec rs5

If I was spending nearly £100k on a sporty car, I would want a bona fide sports car...something like a 911 Turbo.
