I'm having a set of coilovers installed next week but not sure what to tell the garage to do with the ride height.

Could people please do me a huge favour and post side on pics of their lowered cars along with the height from the top of the wheel arch to floor.

I'm aiming to reduce the gap between the tyre and arch but don't want the car to look like it's obviously been lowered.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I’ll try and remember to get some measurements when I get home, what coils have you gone for?

I’ve always found that they settle an extra 5-10mm over the first week or so, they are not difficult to adjust so you can get it sitting perfect yourself without too much effort

Got my hands on a set of used Bilstein B16 - PSS10 for a decent price off eBay.

Wanted something easy to adjust ride comfort as the car is used daily and don't want the wife moaning about the harsh ride.

Lol , Bilstein B16 are a very firm more track orientated coilover , oooops .

Although not damper adjustable the height adjustable B14 kit would be more road comfortable .

Either won't be near as comfortable as Eibach Pro .

In order of comfort with small ride height drop capability .

Eibach Pro with OE Bilstein B4 dampers

Eibach Pro with either Bilstein B6 or B8 dampers
( Bilstein B12 kit )

Bilstein B14 kit

Bilstein B16 kit .

Nothing I read about the coilovers suggested they would be particularly harsh, especially with the adjustable damping giving lots options. Guess I'll find out in a little over a week!

Going to have them installed at setting 5 and fine tune from there.

I had a set of PSS10's on my A5, they're in my garage waiting to go on my S5, never thought the ride was overly firm, I had them set at 6 on the rear & 5 on the front.

Anyone?

Side on pics would be appreciated even without measurements.

Cheers.

I could see them earlier, but now can't. 26" was the measurement on H&R OE springs

I'll measure mine later I'm running my stock 18's at the moment. If the weather holds out I might refit the 20's.

@forty3 Didn't have enough time to refit the 20's back on today but here's an older pic with them fitted.

So it turns out that the garage noticed that one of the rear springs was distorted and as a result he didn't recommend that I go ahead with the install. Very disappointing but now I'm armed with a bit more information I think I may just go for the Eibach pro springs and add a rear ARB to tighten things up.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Looked at the B12 kit but people in America have been having issues with the rear end not lowering much and giving the car an excessive front rake. Seems to be specific to the avant.

Anyone have any additional info or experience of this?

Why not just fit the fronts & try & get a replacement rear spring or springs ?

Or get a set of the KW adjustable springs which go on the standard shocks.

I'm going to call Bilstein on Monday and see if they can help but don't want to end up spending much trying to sort out a second hand kit.

Less than £600. That's why I was asking about the rake on the avant using the b12s.
