JG's S5 Thread.

Well is she doesn't, there's always public transport, can't be doing with listening to her whining, and drowning out the Supercharger.

You be in trouble if the mrs reads this, lol. You could maybe take a little run up to Glasgow and go through the Clyde tunnel so you can hear the car. That will give you smiles per mile, lol. Keep up the good work John. :) x

Clyde tunnel sounds good Sandra, great idea.

Think I'll give it a short go under the Mall when it's quite around 9-10pm, give the boy racers under there a wee thrill. :scared2:
Just need to make sure the boys in blue aren't under there with a speed gun. :gun2:
I'll even take the Mrs. :whistle2:

Under the mall sounds good. Will do for starters. Boys in blue be having a little end of shift hide (I mean snooze) before the change over. Then take the wife to Glasgow on Saturday, drop her off at braehead and you head for the tunnel. Don't go Sunday though as the half marathon is on John. I be up their on Sunday to watch my son run. :) x

Sounds like you've done this yourself Sandra, what aren't you telling us...................?

Yes, I'll be staying well clear of the Glasgow area on Sunday, with any luck the Intake will be here soon to give it a try out one place or another.

Good luck to your son for Sunday, hope he gets suitable weather for the half marathon.

Just came across your thread while having a nosey.
Stunning looking car bud, the power difference must be amazing,I see you’ve already been busy with the mods and the ones you have planned.
Think we both need to invest in Road Angels for heading down to AITP next year together lol.:racer: :racer:.

Hi Steff,

more or less bought the S5 when we got back from AITP, couldn't help myself, it's exactly the car I was looking for.

Mods are coming along nicely, just small changes as I like the car as is, for now............

Maybe we should set up a group buy for Road Angels, then we can have a fast convoy of all the Scots attending next year, that we be interesting! :racer:

Take it you stuck with the RS3 in the end, good decision IMO. :yahoo:

Hi Steff,

saw it, wanted it, bought it mate. Audi offered my a good price for the A5, so it was time to treat myself to a belated 50th prezzie. :yahoo:

As for Ryan's inheritance, he can have the S5 if I'm done with it. Think I've got a while yet though, so he can buy his own, lol!

I'm glad you decided to keep the RS3, but you need to get it out more to put the RS4 out of your mind, maybe we'll organise a we Scottish meet in the New Year, we need to catch up before AITP. :racer:

Hi folks, just a wee update.

CTS Intake has arrived, not fitted yet.
Redstuff Pads awaiting fitting, may get some nice disc's before fitting these.
Maxton V.2 Front Splitter ordered in Gloss Black.

New engine cover fitted, complained to dealer when I collected the car that the original one was scratched, replaced under warranty? Managed to get the old one off them, so may get it painted gloss black & Glazier white, nothing lost if I don't like it.

Still to get in touch with Gordon, Defined Details Cambuslang, to see what he recommends for the paintwork & a Ceramic coating. This won't be done until early next year, but want to get it booked in before he's booked out for the year, yes, he's that busy.

Good choice

Cheers @arad85

Was going to go custom, as on previous A4 & A5, but have always liked the sound of the Awe Touring, good old youtube, so when this one came up I had to have it. Probably not fit it till after the crappy winter weather, but you never know, my impatience may take over, lol.

Your build is coming along really nice @JG51 AUD. @arad85 was instrumental in helping me decide about the exhaust and in the end I went for Milltek as AWE was a bit too pricey for me at that time.

Cheers @Tashfeen,

yes, parts are building up nicely, just wish I had more space & time to get some of them fitted. Suppose there's no rush, but, my impatience kicks in when I know stuff is lying about waiting to go on the car.

Hopefully getting the exhaust fitted will satisfy me for a while, lol.
I looked at Milltek, and probably would have went with it or a custom one, but the Awe came up at a reasonable price so went for it.

I know what you mean mate. It took me a while to get the list finalised and then there was a lead time of 4-5 weeks from Awesome GTI for the stuff to be delivered from US. Although they had the exhaust in stock I didn't want to put them on in bits - I went with the big-bang approach :hubbahubba:. Even for the two weeks that I had the stuff lying around in my garage it was frustrating. I was like a child; over the moon when I dropped off the car for the parts to be fitted.

I must admit you are a very patient man! All the best - not long now :)

Also, did you buy the RS calipers and discs you were enquiring about - would look awesome and at a really decent price ;)

Don't know if I'll ever have a finalised list, there's always something mate, but hey, saves getting bored. :whistle2:

Yeh, I did/do like the look of the RS Caliper's that I enquired about, just a bit rich for me after buying the exhaust, good price, but wrong time. :frown new:

Just purchased EBC Slotted/Grooved Disc's and already have the RedStuff pads, so that'll be the stopping power for now, but RS ones will be on my future list, no doubt.

May also try to get the front splitter fitted while the car is up on the ramp for the exhaust job, oh, and my 034 trans mount. :rockwoot:

What base type you have, pal?

Which leds did you went for?

Waiting for some dedicated Audi amber indicators from site sponsor but it’s been ages they should be here.

Can you drop us a sneaky peek video of their day/night performance?

Hi Kris,
LED Indicator bulbs were bought on a Group buy from t8ups, so probably the same ones your waiting on.

They are a lot brighter than the originals Audi ones, plug & play, no errors.

I'll try to get a video of then tonight, no promises though. :cold:

Thank you JG,

I’ve seen the main group buy thread from him and got excited.

Bought the cheap ones off eBay but they are not as bright.

Hopefully those t8ups’s ones will do the proper job.

Great motor you have there, must say.
If I would have a family car and my wife had one, with driving licence in her wallet, I would love to have one of those you got.

Looking forward to see your next mods

Hi Kris,

you won't be disappointed in the ones from @t8ups, I've never had a bad buy from him, knows his stuff and very helpful. :salute:

Thanks for the comments on the motor mate, it's coming along nicely IMO.

First impressions, gives the S5 the sound it should have from factory, not overly loud, no drone, but you know there's power under the bonnet.

Need to wait till the weekend to get a sound track video posted, some pics of the install and finished product for now.

What size tips are these, look really nice specially with the black diffuser. I’ll give it another 1000 miles for exhaust to bed in and it will be fun then.

Thanks @Tashfeen, I'm really pleased with how it looks & sounds.

Tips are 92mm if I remember right, you can get larger, 100mm+, but these suit me just fine.

I'm sure the all black look at the rear won't be to everyone's taste, but I like it.

I think black looks good especially if you have Black Edition.

I too have ECS Tuning CF rear diffuser contemplating about changing from polished aluminium tips to black ones. Polished aluminium looks cool only when it is clean so, maybe for first few days or week at a max and it’s black again.

Waiting for the video .

I do like the chrome polished ones, but as you say, IMO the black ones on a BE suit it better.
Black tips should look spot on with your CF difusser. I say go for it.

I'll get the video done on my sons go pro and put it on you tube, seems the easiest way to upload on here.

Not much of an update,

but a thing that has always bugged me is the cream interior rear view mirror, looks pants from the outside of the car against the tinted sun strip and my black dash cam, so, I purchased a black one, fitted it today, sooooooo much better, and you don't really notice the change inside against the creamy interior. May see if I can get the black reading light panel, but finding one with the sunroof switch may be difficult..........

Also, decided to get my Rotors painted black, just can't decide on Gloss or Satin? They're not getting painted for a couple of weeks, so plenty of time to make up my mind.

Next on the waiting list is getting my auto folding mirrors fitted & coded, just waiting on an indicator bulb/lense, as I cracked the original when removing the cover to get it painted.
