Hi,

My missus decided to break the glovebox hinge on my B7 today - the silly cow when opening the glovebox, applied too much force too quickly and one of the hinges has snapped off :(

Anyway do i need to replace the whole unit (it has a locking latch) or could a buy a kit such as this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GLOVE-BOX...del:A4&hash=item2824933e80:g:8HQAAOSwoVNZ6KjZ

and get someone to fit it?

You don't know how angry I am at the missus..... :(

They are a well known weakness, as the damper gets older they stiffen up.
Ive repaired mine with one of those kits and it took about 45 mins start to finish, and that includes removing and refitting glove box.
Buy the kit and have a crack at it yourself, for £7 you cant go wrong!

Or find another lid.

I would look at the break & see if you can internally pin it, then bond the parts together with a 2 pack resin, then no brackets seen.

On mine the central locking cable goes though where you would screw repair bracket that's on a convertible, so I had to replace the whole thing, and don't be too hard on her they always snap on left hinge as th post before said the damper dries out

Put some grease inside the piston housing & drill a hole in the end, it won't be a problem anymore.
