We all know that driving the car is way more funnier than reading the manual in the glove compartment (where it often stays until something goes wrong). And those who have read the manual may know that not everything is in there anyway - which is why I started this thread.

Something that may be obvious to some may be a "I did not know that!"-moment for others. So please share your tips and tricks to make the everyday life easier for all us Audi lovers :friends:

My latest discovery: press the auto button once (when already in auto) on your climate to put it in ECO mode or keep it pushed to sync the two zones after they have been changed individually.

Remember, nothing is too silly not to share!

Your turn...

I didn't know my boot auto opens with a long press of the boot button on the key. Took 7 month to find out. Saloon version

Aha.... I found out my key fob done this a week's into ownership! Not because I'm smart and seeked to find out wether I had the function to do so, nor did I read up on it.

My 17 month old daughter found my keys one morning and triggered the boot to open.
And I didn't know for a few hours once I had walked outside to see my boot wide open.
It baffled me at first and thought I had left it open the previous evening.... but I eventually put 2 & 2 together and solved the mystery :yahoo:

Did not know that the seats could not be reclined on my S-Line A3. Discovered this the hard way when travelling 2000 miles from the UK to Malta when my brother was driving. My wife was not impressed when I told her so after arriving back home as she occasionally has a nap in the car when I'm driving

I hope she doesn’t put it back too far?

I won’t let my girlfriend recline anything further than normal, the seats are upright for a reason.. all designed to work together in a crash.

I hate that people put their feed on the dashboard, what a way to shatter both legs.

Not restricted to Audi....the little fuel pump has an arrow attached to it? That's not directing you to the gauge...its telling you which side of the car the fuel filler is.....(you can have that one for free lol)

You could have done the obvious and asked your daughter. They’re very smart these kids.

Found out today almost 2 years in that if I move button on door over to drivers wing mirror then put car in reverse the passenger mirror tilts down to look at kerb! Weird combo but there you go.

Some things in here I didn't know about either.

My Contribution: The Volume Knob is directional and is usable to change tracks.

Press and hold the passenger temperature control to sync them both to adjust together from the drivers control

Apply electronic parking brake whilst stopped at a junction, when ready simply apply throttle and off you go (S-Tronic).

The boot lights hold up the boot floor if needed.

Pushing the volume control down on the centre console pauses the music. Holding it down turns the mmi off all together and retracts the screen.

Great thread this, Im delighted to read you CAN sync the temperatures on the climate control adjusting them both individually was such a pain (both numbers MUST match!)

Same with a manual gearbox. Just put it into gear (if stop/start is being used) and then go into gear and drive off :)

Putting your foot down to nip out at a roundabout for example, produces a virtual launch control in the s tronic. I was in dynamic mode just now and pulled out swiftish at a roundabout and it automatically dropped into sport mode and just launched. Never knew a 150 ps TDI had so much power. Great feature for safe exit at junctions and also great fun!

That's probably kick down you're experiencing.

Yeah that'll be the one! Am not used to such wizardry coming from a manual. Still mighty slick the way this s tronic does it though. So damn quick!

under front passenger seat in preFL S3 there is a small pull out hidey draw for those most precious of things you dont want left in sight

Would not find this in the manual but a great holder for those detail fanatics.. Under the boot liner, see attached.
