2016 Audi RS3 8V Sportback Magnetic Ride Re-Calibration!

Fitted with H&R lowering springs, giving a drop of approx 30mm in the front and 25mm at the rear, this very very nice Audi RS3 8V popped over for a Mag Ride re-calibration in order to correctly set the dampers resting points. We are not the biggest fans of H&R springs for these vehicles here at VAG Car Coding but have to admit that the ride quality on our test drive was pretty good, but better once we were finished with it! The re-calibration all but removed the standard magride “bounce” in the rear and firmed up the front nicely. It also restored the difference between the Drive Select modes.

Audi A4 8K MMI3G Plus Retrofit - Coding Session 1!

The owner of this Audi A4 decided it was time to update his Audi RMC system to a full blown Audi MMI3G Plus unit with DAB, and he had been collecting the needed parts for a while before popping over to see us for the needed Component Protection removal and coding. Unfortunately we were unable to complete the project on the day as the screen sourced by the owner was faulty. Session 2 with this vehicle is coming soon!

VW Golf R Mk7 Diagnostic Session - ColourKraft Air Ride Installation!

VAG Car Coding was back over at ColourKraft today while they were working on this interesting Air Ride project. In order to complete this quality installation Tim needed to remove the passenger seat and disturbed an Airbag sensor, which triggered a dash alarm. Never fear as VAG Car Coding is here! Volkswagen Golf mk6 R - Duel Channel Dashcam Hardwire Installation!

After seeing my “fox dancing on my bonnet” video a few weeks back the owner of this perfect Golf R example wanted the same setup installing. The Dashcam used here is the Thinkware F770 duel channel (front and rear) which has been hardwired to the vehicles fuse box. The attached photos show befores and afters of the installation, using the factory cable routes within the vehicle.

At VAG Car Coding we think a Dashcam is an essential addition to any vehicle. You can be the best driver in the world but all it takes is some muppet who thinks he is Lewis Hamilton, but is actually more like Pastor Maldonado, in order to cause an accident. However these cameras are not just for driving as most will have a parking mode and will record “goings on” whilst your vehicle is parked up and unattended, for example mine has recorded evidence of vandalism to my own vehicle, drug deals, fly tipping, ladies of the night and as posted recently a fox trying to dance on my bonnet!

Remote Coding Session - Audi S3 8V Saloon Key Coding!

A few weeks back VAG Car Coding remotely coded in a retrofitted Virtual Cockpit for this vehicle. At the time the owner had forgotten his spare key so we could only re-code the one he had with him to the new cluster. Today, while sat in London, a new key was coded to this vehicle which was located in Scotland! No hacking here, only genuine applications and processes.

2016 Audi R8 V10 with Vorsteiner VRS Aero Kit and Flow Forged Wheels!

A trip out to the Performance Company today, to see @jimmypx and his Audi R8 V10. Stunning car this and not many cars out there to beat an Audi R8, let alone one with an amazing body kit like this…. and that was the reason for our visit. A Vorsteiner kit has been fitted but the factory spoiler of the R8 still raises at 74mph which spoils both the looks of the vehicle and its aerodynamics. VAG Car Coding was asked to find a way to prevent this and after spending some time analysing the software and coding from the vehicle we were able to propose a number of possible solutions.

2011 VW Polo 1.4TSI DSG Mechatronic Replacement!

Trip out to see Re-Engineered Transmissions who had just replaced the Mechatronic unit within this vehicle and also given the transmission the once over. VAG Car Coding updated the units firmware to the latest level, performed the needed coding and then completed the basic settings and an adaptation drive. We then completed a full post works diagnostic protocol and updated the cars VW Digital Service Record.

2006 Audi A6 C6 2.7TDI Quattro Avant Bose Sound System Retrofit FAIL - Hacking!

The owner of this vehicle has been slowly, piece by piece, completing a retrofit of the Audi / Bose sound system and now its time to install the amplifier. Retrofits are no longer a simple plug and play affair as VW Group implemented an anti-theft measure called Component Protection. In order to have this unit installed coding via the official VW Group application tool is required, via an online secure connection to the authentication servers in Germany. Not a problem for VAG Car Coding as we are an authorised VW Group Services Provider. So what failed and why? Well all was going as planned and the component protection procedure was completed however the MMI unit could not be communicated with. Turns out that the MMI3G Plus unit in the car had been retrofitted via hacking and would need to be un-hacked in order to restore communication and complete the process!

Why the images of a CAN Gateway? In order to retrofit the Bose amp you also need to upgrade your gateway.

2015 Audi S1 8X Coding Session!

Used but new to the owner, this lovely Audi S1 popped over for a coding session in order to unlock a few features and tweak some others. We also completed a Video in Motion activation in order to allow an external video source to be viewed whilst the vehicle is moving. The attached image displays a video being viewed but this is only for demo and testing purposes. The owner is actually awaiting some ordered parts which will allow Waze to be mirrored to the RMC display via his iPhone.

Working with @vagprouk, today we performed a Magnetic Ride Re-Calibration on this Leicester based Audi RS3 8V after the owner had its stock springs re-fitted as he was just not being able to get on with the ride the H&R’s provided! Although we had originally Re-Calibrated the system while the H&R’s were on there and the ride quality improved, there is something about H&R springs and the Audi RS3 8V Sportback that just doesn’t work and VAG Car Coding has never tested an RS3 8V equipped with H&R’s that we liked…. so far anyway.

Fellow audisport.net member @Forbzeeee popped over today after having his Audi S3 lowered via Eibach Sportline lowering Springs. We like these springs here at VAG Car Coding, they work really well with the MQB A3 platform but as per normal VAG Car Coding is here to make things even better!

•Daytime Running Light Brightness adjusted to 100% in all switch positions
•Daytime Running Light Toggle Control added to Audi MMI4G Menu
•Auto Activation of Front Parking Sensors deactivated
•Soft Touch Motorway Turn Signals changed from 3 to 4 Flashes
•Audi MMI4G Plus Version 1 Video in Motion activated
•Audi MMI4G Plus Version 1 Menu and Option Speed Restrictions Removed
•Pre and Post works diagnostic Protocols completed

and in addition to all these we also diagnosed a GPS aerial issue

2012 Audi A4 8K 2.0TDI Avant Emissions Update Reversal - Fail!

Another VAG Vehicle which has fallen foul of the “Emissions Fix”. Normally VAG Car Coding is able to reverse the fix process however for the first time we failed with this vehicle. Flashing the ECU with the only available pre “fix” firmware actually bricked the ECU and the car would not start but using Genuine tools we were able to restore the software level to the current working level in order to bring the car back to life again. Unfortunately there will be no genuine way, other than sourcing a used ECU with pre “fix” firmware, to revert this vehicle given the version of ECU in use,

Audi A3 8V MMI4G Version 1 Standard Audi Sound System Activation - From France!

The owner of this Audi MMI4G unit (top) has not been able to find anyone in France that is able to activate his Audi Sound System Centre Speaker and Rear Subwoofer. After contacting VAG Car Coding, as this is a process that we cannot complete remotely, we had him send the unit over to us so we could complete the works in London and then send back!
