Impatiently waiting!

I had an email from Audi on the 3rd saying:

Dear Steven,

It won't be long now. Your new Audi A5 Coupé has left our factory and is on its way to you.

Having passed all stringent quality controls, your finished car is now on its way from our plant towards the ferry terminal. From there, it will be shipped to the UK and delivered to your Audi Centre.

Looking on the My Audi site, it's still not at the ferry! 12 days to cross Germany!!!

Ohhh it's on the boat :p

Ferry

Wow! Lucky - mine's still at Quality Control. Hoping that it'll be ready to ship from tomorrow.

Think mine left without you, currently on the train from Ingoltadt!

Apparently 3000 cars are due over to the UK this week! Mine was in QC for about 4-5 days and then on the road for about 13!!! before going on the boat.

Not a happy chap today, on Monday last week they told me the end of this week/early next for collection, so on that information I told the buyer of my car that they could have it on Friday this week. I've just had an email from Audi saying:

"Its more than likely that a manager has looked at the wrong screen and seen Port of Grimsby and assumed it was there – what that means is just where the car is going to in the UK. They don’t use the system at all so all I can do is apologise for the mix up.

The factory have always told us that from a shipping order being raised it can take 10 working days for the car to get into the country and from the car arriving at compound in the UK, a further 8 working days from there."

But did say it's not normally that long!!!

I'm without a car as of Friday morning!!! potentially I may be without one until around 8th Nov! They have already said they will not give me a car. A call/email to Audi Uk may be getting done :whip:

That's crap!

My salesman promised me a car if mine was to be late, best get emailing and complaining my friend!

Oh you better believe it, just phoned Audi UK. He wasn't happy that they are happy to leave me without a car after they gave me a date...he said leave it with him ;)

That's good to hear, sounds like someone was just being lazy and couldn't be bothered to sort the admin out of getting you a loan car. Most salesmen will only shift a gear when it involves making money (obviously) but customer service should always be included in that as you're doing them a favour buying from them.

Coincidence or not, the car is now in the UK compound and I can now go in and sign the finance documents!!! All changed within 1 hour of calling Audi UK :sly: To be fair the girl I have been in contact with is great, it's the people above that have messed up!

Good lord the incompetence is strong in them.

Arranged a non-confirmed date with my dealership to pick mine up on either 25/11/17 or 02/12/17. I suspect you will get yours mid November at the latest as you want yours asap.

Lol I'm going in to sign the paperwork in a few minutes, just received an email from Audi to say that it's now on the ship!!! A think the email system is slightly behind, as it was off the ship and on UK soil yesterday :D

Good news – your Audi A5 Coupé has cleared the port terminal and has been loaded onto the vessel that will bring it into the UK.

Yeah they are a tad behind, my dealership rang me on this Sunday just gone stating that my car will start construction on the 16th October... I replied with a giggle saying its already started and in quality control!

Must be looking at hundreds of orders understandably.

Either way I'm getting more and more excited, almost crashed my car yesterday when I spotted a white S5 on the road :whistle2:

lol, we are all like kids at christmas :) I've only ever seen 3 A5 coupes on the road and one was in white which I'm getting...and yes I got all excited and pointed at it telling the wife...I was a big kid :D

Well I signed my paperwork and then he went off to see what he could do about my car! He came back with a big grin on his face "If all goes to plan it will be here tomorrow and you can collect it on Saturday" :) They are even sending someone to my home to pick me up and take me down there ;) He did say at the end, "If you have any problems, do me a favour and call me before Audi UK!" :p

I've asked them not to touch it with anything! just take the sticky plastic off and if it's filthy just jet wash and drip dry :)

Are you giving it some love yourself or having it detailed?

Doing it myself mate, I have a DA and after black white will be easy :)
Nice! I shall be doing mine too, will be using my Carbon Collective kit.

What was their response? I was very confused to learn that my salesmen has never heard of detailing a car. O_0

They were OK with it, she said she had told them to take the plastic off and give it a quick hoover...nothing else...don't even wipe the rain off it! She said someone had just ordered an S3 and they also said "Make sure it's not cleaned".

When I collected it the manager came out to try and sell me all the extras such as Gap, paint protect bla bla bla, (salesperson isn't allowed to do it anymore!!!) I said "You've got more chance of me letting you wash my car" :D

That's good then!

Going with Aviva, they have GAP included in the insurance for the first two years of a brand new car.

I would like to see there options for Paint Protection and costs, out of curiosity of course.

Be very careful with Aviva GAP, I'm sure it was them when I first got my S3 who had in the small print "If one is available in the UK", when I called and asked what if one wasn't available in the UK? They replied with "Then we revert to book price". Worth a call mate!

I went with my own GAP from day 1 on the S3 and have just transferred it over to the A5, as I had credit left (took it over 4 years for the S3, but I was only 2.5 years in :p)

Just had a quick look on their site:
Hmm

Yes, worth an ask.

I'll ask all of the misc questions once I get my Reg (When is that exactly?)

I got mine the day I signed for the car finance, 2 days before collection.

Did you get a choice? I'm just curious as this would be the stage where you sort out your insurance, and I was told by my guy he would give me 5 days free insurance at the time.

(Apologies for stupid questions, but this is actually the first time I'm going through a Dealer for a new car)

Well I wanted it ASAP, as I was going to be without a car as of the the Friday, so on the Wednesday when asked "Can you come in tomorrow?" I jumped at it! I signed on the Thursday and collected the car on the Saturday, so only without one for 24 hours :)

You need to sign the finance documents at least 48 hours before collecting the car. Yes they give you 5 days insurance, but as I sold the S3 on the Friday and had the reg of the new car I just switched the insurance over to start on the Saturday on the new car, depending who you are with you can do it yourself online for free. It cost me £18 more to insure the A5 until March...I was expecting more!

You used to get a choice out of a list of which reg you want, but apparently they have stopped that now! I'm not bothered as I plan on throwing my private reg on down the line. I went with the private reg from day 1 last time, but got sick of people saying "Is it a used one and that's why you have a private reg?", so this time they can see it's not used :p

Are you trading your car in?

Cool! Thanks for the information, I'll need to sort my documents out after work then on a Thursday (May just take a half day), as I would also like a Saturday Collection. Gives me more time to detail and play :D This is permitting Audi can allow for this.

So currently I have a quotation with Aviva, based upon the same model of the car, which I can add a reg too finalising the insurance. I have found some of the same cars on Ebay which I used the Regs of to do some dummy quotes, and they have been coming out near enough the same.

I've been thinking of getting a Private Reg, but unsure of what to have.

My current car is a lease, which I'm handing back sometime in Late November. So just putting down my own money on this one.

Mines still on 38 :( hoping it’s glitched and is on the same ship or in the uk.

Hopefully your tracker's just a little delayed. On that note my tracker is stating Status 40. It's in the UK!

Emailed my dealership today not to prepare the car so that I can clean it,

Just got off the phone with my Audi dealer and it looks like next week might be the possible delivery date. Things have been moving quite quickly now

Good news then!

I do find it amusing how my car was in front of yours at one point during assembly, now it has been left behind in Germany. :sob:

Ohhh exciting times....tell them not to clean it though!!!

What’s the reason for that? To do the detail myself?

The tracker has changed to “Arrived” so looks like I’ll be picking it up this coming week!

Yes, chances are they will put swirls or scratches on it! They washed my S3 once and I came home and had to get the DA out to polish the bonnet to remove a couple of light scratches!

Depends on how fussy you are, if you use hand car wash places or machine washes then let them clean it :) A lot of the guys on the S3 forums don't let anyone clean their cars :p

Haha oh right! I’m not too fussed then - I usually go for the hand car wash places.

On another note I have the car ready to collect on Thursday afternoon.

Almost there now!
