yes it most certainly has chap, and its really irritating aswell.
I had the problem 3 times in as many days a while back, not really sure what the cause was either , when I locked the car the doors all locked ok but upon unlocking all doors the rear offside just stayed locked , just couldn't get it unlocked from inside or outside.
In the end I just spent 5 mins locking and unlocking the car , then just loosing my temper with it and shouting at it , then it was ok.....I suspect it was a central locking issue but not 100% to be honest , its only happened on sporadic occasions but still really irritating, and allways the same door lock is affected....
If it happens again I may just remove the door card and check the mechanism is all working smoothly and wiring is ok , other than that haven't got a clue chap.

Rob, did just leave it and it opened again after time? If I can get it open I’ll do the same. Door card off and replace the looking Mech just to be safe.

Well I didn't really leave it chap , more a case of I needed to get it open asap so just spent five minutes locking and locking the car ,finally after a fair few
attempts it unlocked , try locking the car with the key in the lock the unlock it aswell as by using the remote fob button.

what I did find odd was that I could hear the lock mechanism clicking in the offending door but the door would not open.
maybe its the lock that's being erratic or sticking or its a wiring issue, either way I didn't have time to start pulling the door apart to resolve it but will do if the problem re occurs again.

Cheers Rob. Same here. It sounds like it should unlock but nothing. I would have thought the internal handle was mechanical not electrical would have made life much easier. I’ll try locking and unlocking a few times.

have a look , lock and handle or linked by cable but when my door locked the handle was non functional just all floppy.
Lock1

Internal door handles are usually disabled when the cars locked so they can't be opened with say coat hangers.

I would, when unlocked, spray lubricant into the lock, work back/forth, they can get grimed up & not release, ideally remove, strip, clean if internals are accessible & regrease or swap out.

Now that's if no wiring in the door hinge rubbers are broken & also the CE module under passenger front footwell hasn't got wet.

Variety of things it could be tbh.

I’m booked in at the stealers Monday for them to investigate. So far no luck getting the damn thing open.
Get a price before they do anything as might have to cut into door card which at a stealer will cost ur a arm and leg and labour cost

2nd that, get a price 1st, tbh I wouldn't take this into the dealer it will cost a ****** fortune, as there really is only one way into the door lock, through the door card.

Whereabouts are you located?

or remove the door card that way there is less chance of damaging the card.

just relised that you cant get the door open at present so not an easy job to get the door card off with the door shut....can you get the window down.

Does the window work ??

Yeah the window still works. It’s deinitley the lock. Makes no sound now. I thinks it’s just dead.

I would take it somewhere else if there was anywhere else to take it. I’m on the Isle of Wight so choices are pretty limited. I really only want them to confirm that it’s 100% the lock. That means the door card needs to come off which I’m pretty sure he only way to do it with the door shut is to rip it off. If that’s the case I’ll do it.

I think the only way to remove he door card with the door locked shut is go destroy it.

I assume that the lock uses 12v to activate the mechanism, if so maybe possible to short the lock out directly to activate the mechanism , well if it is infact an electrical issue, maybe just jammed.

have you tried just using the actual key to lock then unlock the doors......

I’m hoping that Audi know a magic trick and it doesn’t cost £0000. To be honest it’s a bit of a saftey risk. I can’t believe that there is no way to open the door. If someone was in there and it caught fire it would be a mission to climb over the drivers seat and out.

maybe try this, if it's just getting stuck then put a cloth against the door card close to where the lock assembly is located and give it some firm taps with something heavy , if you use something absorbant against the door card the blows wont damage the door card but may be enough to free up the lock....
you need to create some shock force so just light taps may not work, if you have a heavy duty staple gun, that works well ,just take out the staples first, then fire it against the door card a fair few times, the impact forces may do the job, but the cloth or similar will save the door card surface.

I’ll give that a go tomorrow and see what happens. I have an obd reader so I’ll run a scan tomorrow and see what codes it throws.

Fingers crossed the shock trick works.

I don’t want to jinx anything but a new keyfob battery seems to have sorted the issue out. I’m going to grease everything up while it’s open to make sure it isn’t just sticking.
Thats good news and yea best check it all make sure its freely moving whilst its open.

So I thought I was in the clear. Then driving tonight the door starts beeping at me. The lock / unlock button on the drivers door failed and the car wouldn’t lock any door. Reset the remote in the ignition and it all started working again.

Ran a scan with a code reader. I have a faulty coolant fan control module. The only other thing to show up was that apparently the central module control system was coded at the exact time the issue happen.

No idea what that is. But I have a really bad feeling I may have an electrical gremlin.

that's a bit steep chap, maybe a look on fleabay may have had some good used bits at a saving....did you do it or dealer....if dealer then that's maybe why it cost so much.

Yeah main dealer Rob. Limit on garages being on the Isle of Wight. My thought is at least this way if the problem reoccurs then it is their issue as I have been assured this will fix the problem.
