Did it have the vacuum wipers?

View attachment 139224

It did, it did! Was how I learned to back-off in the rain - 'cos the bl**dy things would as near as da*n it stop... :racer:

I'm guessing you've experienced 'em, too...

Happy days!
Now it's 140mph in an S/RS Audi whatever on a 'B' road with a yawn...

Where's the FUN in that...

Now a 71 Lotus Elan Sprint around France and back through the Alps, now that's FUN and a tad adventurous; but home safe and a GREAT drive...

Oh, and #4578, sorry...

Yup, my mate used to pick me up in his Ford Popular and the faster you went in the rain, the slower the wipers would go!!! IIRC it also only had a three forward gear, gearbox - No DSG, seven speed in them days :)

This was duing the late 70's when the UK car customizing was probably at its peak :)

But no one had heard of that 'hairdresser' term back then, I don't think they existed; so it didn't matter; but for us then came the Spitfire and GT6 duo...

IIRC they used the Triumph Herald chassis?

Yep! With minor mods here and there. Not that much competition in them days. PS: soooo many race cars with Herald front suspension, rack, brakes, etc., even now. Wasn't soooo bad in them days either. Motoring guys today compare anything and everything with a Golf, few are old enough to have had the experience in the day. For sure I didn't get overtaken much; then as now really... :racer:

Bare bones of a 45bvtc with a Triumph Herald front end...
