Evening all. Let's just say I have an 'interesting' issue! I filled up my washer reservoir on the '64 plate A5 S-line the other day and the following morning it had dumped it all over the drive. After re-filling it, it looked like it was emptying at the front, underneath the headlight washers. Pulling the flaps open revealed that water was being fed to the jets and it was dribbling out constantly on both sides. Further experiments seem to conclude that gravity is doing its thing - the washers need not have been activated for the water to come out of the nozzles under the headlights. I took the nearside foglight cover off and was able to find the water pipes, and I've clamped one before it branches to the first headlight washer - hence stemming the flow to both sides.

My question is, what could possibly have failed? It can't be a cracked water bottle as the water is making its way through the pipes. It can't be a cracked pipe for the same reason. There must be a pump between the bottle and the light jets, but is there anything else - a switch or relay for example that may have failed or a seal gone?

Any help would be appreciated. I've already taken it to a non-Audi dealer who diagnosed two faulty jets needing replacement (and charged me £70 for the advice!)

Many thanks - WP

A bit more research seems to indicate that there is a headlamp washer pump somewhere near the main pump and reservoir. I'm taking a punt that is the one causing me a headache

If your car is still under Audi Warranty, take into dealership and get them to fix it for free.
If the warranty has just run out this year, they may do it as a goodwill gesture given the car is only 3 years old, worth a try pal.

There is a separate pump, however if its leaking by the jets, then you need to check the pipe isn't split on the ends, maybe check the clamps on the pipe/washer jet or replace the jet.

Its a simple diagnosis & tbh best to remove the bumper to fully check & fix.
