Windscreen washers

The Golf/Seat ones I fitted 5M0 prefix are fan only - see pic on post #56. The adjuster sets the height of where the fan of water hits the screen.

Hey @Rob2k68 , do you have the VW part number for the fan jet you went with or did you purchase aftermarket? Sorry if I missed it reading back on the thread...

Sure, 5M0 955 986 C (last letter may have changed just get the latest one)

This is the heated version.

Great information.
I have the three single jets and the drivers side one day is blocked and the next day it's not. So frustrating! Been looking to get these changed.

So it look like the VW jets are better than the A6 ones..

Great! Still happy with them to this point? Car has very little miles and they stock ones are already shooting over the roof! Looking to buy a set of these and another grocery hook for the rear trunk. Insert joke here. But seriously the one in there is great!

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread...

I've had my S3 for just under a month now and I'm disappointed with the windscreen/headlight washer system as a whole.

Putting the stone-age pistol jets to one side, I find the delay between pulling the 'trigger' and receiving washer fluid on to the windscreen surface excessively long.

Do you all suffer from this or am I likely to have a sticky non-return valve somewhere in the system that is draining the tubes back to the reservoir after every use?

A schematic of the system would be most beneficial to see what components are in the system... Are the parts catalogues readily available online (ETKA, etc)?

Thanks,

Greg.

From experience, I can almost guarantee that this is the part in question. Problem is, it is not itemised on the parts list! My guess is that comes as a subassembly for another part such as the pump or elbow fitting :tired:

The spray delays and durations of the washer jets, and indeed the headlight washers, are configurable via software. If you don't have or have access to VCDS and alike you could have a look at the VCDS map to find your local user for some testing.

To me it looks like the lines are draining back to the reservoir when not in use rather than a coding/timing setup. I suspect this as the washer pump runs for 2-3 seconds before I receive any output from the jets, priming the lines every use effectively.

Good to know @DJAlix! I would assume spray delay (time it takes to activate pump from stalk pull) is in 09 module?

Thanks for sharing, I was just asking this in another sub :)! Any idea where I can get this done or do I just need to invest in my own VCDS?
