Facelift Jassy's Discussion/Build/Wait Voodoo Blue S3 Saloon Thread

I see, l like mica aswell but l wanted to go the Full Monty....... And then some lol

There was a A6 black edition up my mother's way l used to see it a couple of times a week, it was stunning, my first few of mica was on a 14 plate S3 sport back...... It looked stunning and at the time l thought that was Sepang as l was just thinking about getting a S3

Sure mica is the Ford colour performance blue? I’m sure I read it somewhere. However it’s awesome on the Audi, seen it on a a4 and the paint has so much depth!

As you know I have merlin, it’s nice/popular now. If I go exclusive next time, it’s gotta be a colour that makes me go wow. Merlin is a tad dark/dull on overcast days for me now...

A bit like Ara Blue....no camera will do it justice especially when the results are viewed on Smartphones and most video screens, unless they are calibrated.

Where do l start.....? Well for a start the actual leather and the cushioning underneath are much firmer especially the leather than my last car mate, l had to go supers port seats as l don't like all black leather seats, the side bolsters on my saloon are deeper hence supporting your kidney area a little more but l think that's just coincidence and not by design, they look to offer more shoulder support but that's just a design allusion.the lumber support doesn't really suit my build as l feel it pushes me further out of the side bolsters that provide some lateral support, but in general they are no different to the normal seats but they look good as so they should do as the seats and red stitching are a £1590 option

As where old @Simon L would say the Saloon for the win..... Lol
This definitely feels like it deserves the S designation where my lovely sepang S3 felt like a A3 with a more powerful engine fitted under the bonnet

And thanks mate for your kind post

Like I said not too bothered about exclusivity, but the full effect it will have on the car.. it should look pretty smart.

How come you chose against Lunar Silver?

I don’t think it’s the performance blue, there is no purple tint to that whatsoever. However it is similar to the blue you see on the latest Fords, base Fiesta’s and alike. They go pretty dark and almost look purple.

But seeing the similar colours on a bog standard Fiesta and a kitted our RS3 are two worlds apart... the car wearing it makes a huge difference. You have to make sure you get a good look at Mica Blue, the purple tints in some lights are unreal.

Lunar silver is not a option on a S3 anymore, even if it where it would definitely not compliment voodoo
If l chosen mica on a RS3 it would have to have lunar silver super sport seats inside or the red design package, it's a very dark interior indeed it needs a contrasting leather or a splash of colour to lift the darkness lol

£1590 !?!?!?!

Seats are approx £700 notes aren’t they ?
Red stitching inclusive yeah ?

Glad you said the bases feel firmer as I found that too - compared to the s5.

I find they do offer more lateral support especially round the shoulder area as you note.

From memory the red stitching is in conjunction with the extended leather pack.

Oh yes silly me, Rock Grey now! Really unsure on that, it’s a bit iffy but I think I’d choose it over totally black.

That’s the trouble, a full black leather interior is very dark. I think stepping into the Lunar interior will be like a breath of fresh air, fingers crossed.. it’s been a while since I’ve been in one. I first saw the attraction when the grandparents had a Volvo S40, white seats were absolutely stunning!

Getting excited now.....

Extended plastic you mean lol, £895 for stitching mate basically

I'm confused
Easily done yes :)

Super sport seats - around £700 notes yeah
Extended leatherette - around £290 yeah ... where does the £895 come from ?
Don't the seats come with contrasting stitching anyway ? (red or white)

Racing Mica blue is nothing like Fords Deep impact blue which is available on most Fords even the Focus ST, my Mrs has chosen it for her company car, mica is almost identical if not the same as Lapiz blue a stunning colour, l get the comparison between Fords Sprint Blue "not performance blue" it is very like mica with burple tones running through it, here's Fords sprint blue look how different it can look

@jassyo06 ....You made some appreciative nods to the VC. I choose not to have it as I thought the novelty would wear off quickly and to be dead honest I just like the look of the standard gauges. I think I would use the VC in the mode that shows two small dials for speed and revs which IMO is not as nice as standard. I do not like the other mode with one gauge showing rev counter and digital mph. Yes, the map overlay is neat but again I prefer to use Google maps and not an Audi map system and view the map on the MMI, which is also easy to glance over at.
More to the point, what are your comments?

To be honest mate apart the drive up from London, l have only driven the car once since, Jordan Sat in the car with me the other night and set up Google maps and also the drive select settings for the lndividual mode, so yeah still trying to find my way around the car, oh the main reason l opted for the virtual Cockpit was because l had the S3 before as we know and l wanted to try and make this car as different as possible so familiarity wouldn't set in so quickly

Engine settings are identical, he's set suspension =comfort, steering =heaviest which l like **** knows about the others, l tell you it does sound a bit tasty...... Hopefully we in Scotland will have dry day this weekend and l can give the car some acceleration try outs with the pano roof open lol

Another reason that l am trying not drive the car at the moment is not to get any stone chips, need 4 weeks to save for the detail and xpel £1200 thought l could do without, no not ****** chance, the sight of a first stone chip on the bonnet l think l would vomit and then pass oot...... Lol

Right your the very chap, cast your mind back to pano-roof cleaning question you asked yonks and l said l thought the outer frame of the roof was made from glass, reason l thought that was because l couldn't distinguish the difference between the glass and the acrylic frame.... It was a perfect match, this is not the case with my saloon it is distinguishable in tonal shade/touch and also how it reacts to a late evening /early morning due....

Not had it in dynamic yet mate, still a bit of a nervous wreck behind the wheel although not because of myself, but because of other drivers around me as the weather has been horrendous since l got it and also on the occasion l drove it

Very interesting mine is a perfect match and you have a good memory. I think in time you will put the suspension in Auto...comfort is a bit bouncy on most road surfaces but great for badly designed speed bumps.

We all like our own preferences I guess but I have the central combined rev counter / speedo as my default setting. Easy to read, all in one place and leaves space each side to customise to show what I want in addition to the pop up screen. Had VC 11 months now on the S3 and the TT and still love it.

Suspension-wise I use Dynamic for the fast twisty back roads around here, Auto generally and Comfort for speed bump sections

Jassy, how's the seat bolsters looking now? Mine are looking pretty horrendous and it's only been just over a month with someone in the passenger seat maybe 10/12 times at most?
