Ok, my father in law has been moaning about the ignition lock on his B7 A4 for months now and I've finally started looking into it. Not sure if it's a common fault but it feels quite notchy but loose at the same time, plus one of the keys had been ran over so the buttons don't work and I think the battery on the other is on it's way too. So instead of dealing with the d1ckheads at my local Audi branch I got him to buy a full lockset with two new keys I found cheap on gumtree (two birds, one stone and all that) and confirmed it was the correct set for his car from TPS.

Anyway the plastic key has a 2014 date and 4 digit code on it, can I code the new keys to cars immobiliser with VCDS

OR get a locksmith to do it as I'm not great on VCDS

OR has he wasted it his money on the lock set as the code was destined for another car?

Thanks in advance

Okkkkk 1st you needed to match the key part number including the letter on the end, do they match as 2014 car will not.
