goubo stroker gt35 build nears completion

Sketchy looks like serious understatement there.....snow does look lovely though....

We just get mud and rain down here in the softy South.

Yeah was being super cautious as my mate Jonny had a accident over the weekend in his Clio 197 similar car to the one I had a loan of from my other mate the other week

Yeah mate totally fine a tiny scratch on his shin that's all glad he's ok as cars can be replaced......on his dash cam footage the car just starts to fishtail. On that dual carriageway this has happened to a few cars in past couple of years all within 200/300 yards of each other seems to have a lot of standing water on that small part of the road

Also was having some issues with car with the MAF

So got a new one and it got delivered Thursday and fitted it Thursday then took the car out for a drive and to get some v power as I have a 12 mile drive to get it so once warmed up I decided to drive the long way and have a play in the car. Then after 15/20 mins of fun traction control light on and engine light on checked the code and was exactly the same code 16486 on the liquid gauge.i scanned with vcds when I got home

So wondering if it's been a ****** maf from TPS or filter has let something in to damage it as this maf never lasted 24 hours lol I ordered a new connector incase it's that and gave the wiring a quick check over as much as I could but couldn't see anything so the car is parked up till get this sorted

Even when it's broken I still love it

What size discs do you use with the 18z calliper? I'm looking at these from killer brakes instead of LCD brembos but don't know if they will be a nightmare for disc/wheel fitment

I'm using r32 discs 334mm x 32mm

Killer brakes is where I got my set up from and brakets from eBay

Mines were straight forward enough to fit

How long did all ur work take to get done at badger 5?

Took a good few months for mine but wasn't in a great rush as I was away working for long periods in Canada...each build will vary I guess

Just been looking at the discs £300 jesus! What pads have you been using with them?
Also possible daft question but does the ring go between the hub and the disc?

I used yellow stuff pads the first set of pads but last two sets I've been using textar pads from a q7 and I've got on welll with they pads preferred them over the more expensive yellow stuff pads

Thinking on getting these discs very soon as seem a good price for two piece discs and will be lighter than what I'm using just now

The problem with the cheaper R32 discs is that they have none of the features that make the genuine discs so fantastic. Genuine discs are a floating design based around an ally centre which is dowel mounted to the rotor. They tend not to warp and are lighter too. Eurocarparts can get genuine discs, mine were ATE discs but came in a Pagid box.

I still removed the whole setup before I even drove it as I didn't like the combined mass (18z calipers, huge brake pads, caliper brackets, bolts, R32 discs and wheel spacers) combined seemed an awful lot of weight however I never weighed it all.

I ended up using Megane 4 pots and LCR discs which is much lighter and cheaper!

Yeah there is a fair bit of mass but I really like the look of the 18z

How much were the genuine discs ?

Have you. Link for the pads you used? With the 2 piece disc can you buy just the disc part of when it comes time to change again?

How bad are drilled discs for cracking on a fast road car ?
As not sure what to get drilled & grooved, drilled, dimpled & grooved, grooved or c hook

I do prefer the look of drilled though

The genuine discs from ECP can be had for around £240 a pair inc vat if you know anyone who can get staff discount, I think they are around £200 per disc usually.

A lot of the two piece aftermarket discs you find are still not as good as the standard R32 disc as they are just fixed two piece and not actually floating unlike the dowel setup used with genuine discs (although the dowel setup means bell and rotor cannot be separated for replacement).

But I can appreciate that most people fit the 18z for looks as they are super sexy and will stop awesome with any of the discs.

Will you let us know the weight difference between the 2 disc when you get them fitted. Curious to know

Yeah I'm hoping to have them on the car next Friday as that's my first day off and will do my best to compare the weight of the new two piece to the old mtec discs

Well got the discs delivered today and got them on

Got down my mates garage to fit them and came they wouldn't fit correctly so called up mtec and spoke to one of there mechanics and said to unbolt the bell and fit it on the inside. After doing this the 2 pieces discs were exactly as the old discs fitted

I didn't get a chance to weigh them as it was a rush against time before my mates garage closed but they are lighter than the other discs but not OMG they are a lot lighter

They are a decent product and I'll be buying from mtec again when it comes time to renew the rotors

Excuse the pictures they ain't the best but you get the just lol

The car has had a full overhaul and a few changes made along the way.
It now has variable valve timing added also had had AET do some turbo work to and went for k6+ emerald management also added a billet fuel rail I bought from Shaun who was breaking his 600bhp s3 and full new clutch set up Sachs friction clutch with Sachs pressure plate

Also had the gearbox refreshed and some strengthening work done by Martin at gasngears

Excited to get it back and give it some right foot

I’m going to be running a tablet with torque and the emerald software to monitor things and was looking to see if anyone has any tablet mounting tips ?? I seen one on a red s3 on the forum but the user hasn’t been on in a long time as would like it mounted like his at the centre vents any advice on this would be appreciated
