S5 and S4 Production Suspended....

You can't sell a vehicle without C02 figures confirmed? I don't believe that your vehicle would of had the update.

OK - that's what I thought. The dealer seemed to be very confused. On my YourAudi Tracking still says it's a 120g/km CO2 for a MY18 model.

It must be a MY17 model, factory only reopened on the 21st of August

Wow, quick out the door then.

So - I got a phone call with an update today. S5's are open for ordering again - that's official - apparantley! However:

1. It appears the Co2 emissions and fuel consumption remains unchanged, but given this was being retested, neither I, nor the dealer is convinced this has been updated, and the computer systems / databases / info may still be updating so we should know more in a day or two.

2. Some of the specs / options may be changing / being added / being removed (including - I'm told the rotor alloys no longer being available) but they are still on the configurator . . . so again this (along with other specs / options) may get updated in a day or two.

3. It looks like the S5 I ordered in mid July, by the time the configurator / specs get sorted and the order back in, and Audi's backlog sorted . . . I'm likely to take delivery in March. Yes: March (I'm assuming they meant next year and not 2019)! Although that's t.b.c. - should know more in a day or two.

So there we go - news that's not really news, but that's the update I got from the dealer who by their own admission are as confused too, but orders of S5's are open again and no longer suspended.

I guess we'll wait a couple of days for the dust to settle and re-appraise.

March though . . . could be all sorts of other options / cars / models to consider by then . . . ??

Thanks for the update, you know more than me, we ordered ours on the 3rd of July. We have a cab on order.

Got me worrying now! Ordered mine in mid July and have been told construction will start on the 4th December, but who knows

@WillLondon Have you previously had a build date? My S4 order was placed by the dealer for a stock car in early July, and I took over the order a few weeks ago, I have a build date of the 11th December and was told that they usually come forward. I'm really hoping that I don't have to wait until March to get my car.

@MarkOC no - it (the order) never got from the dealer to the factory as the suspension literally happened pretty much as I placed the order and paid the deposit. I'm also going for an exclusive paint so that adds 4 weeks or so where it wouldn't otherwise.

I had been advised that I would likely get the car in oct / Nov / Dec time. But that seems unlikely now. We think. But I'll know more in a few days time I think.

So I've never had a build date. And I've no clue when I'll get the car. Or, currrbtly, what spec is even still available. Confusion will hopefully be clarified later in the week and I'll update...

For reference I'm ordering (or have ordered?) an S5 Cab.

@WillLondon That's a shame that they didn't get the order across, the worst part is definitely not knowing when things are going to progress.

Have you tried going round the other dealerships in the area as they may have an A5/S5 build slot that hasn't been taken yet and could put your order onto that? Then you will likely get a build date and at least know when you will receive the car.

@MarkOC no - I've not tried. And I don't really have any info at the moment as Audi shut the doors with the suspension. So I should know more later this week.

I have an A5 Cab at the moment. And was only upgrading as that existing finance deal is coming to an end. So I'm in no hurry. But may get bored if the whole thing drags on!!

Will update when I know more.

We have placed the order, S5 cab as well, no order number and no sign of one. Placed the order on 3rd July, £1000 down and nothing else. We have been told the price is the price we agreed on and our part ex, an A7 is also fixed. When I here more I will update.

More Audi madness today. So - following the suspension on S5 production being lifted, the dealer put in my order asap (I ordered it the day before the suspension so it didn't get from dealer to factory before the suspension), and the order has come back from the factory (or wherever) saying that both the Rotor Alloys and the Drivers Assistance Pack - Tour are being discontinued (and you can't order the elements of the Drivers Assistance Pack - Tour individually - outside of the pack). I suggested this is ridiculous as much of what's in the Drivers Assistance Pack - Tour is much of what Audi is known for (driver assistance and safety gadgets) and are all A5s and S5s really not going to have these options available any more? Or is this a temporary hiatus?? So the dealer is going to do more investigating.

Anyone else heard similar?

Oh - and I am now definitely looking at a March delivery whatever happens.

I test drove an S5 cab on Saturday and like it a lot (though I am after a sportback if I go for it). I had done some configurations on the website and gave the Audi codes to the dealer but both of them would not load up as it said options had changed. Went through it with the dealer and found that the Rotor alloys were no longer available and he did not mention the driver assistance tour package. So I would agree that it looks like they have been pulled - you can still spec them on the configurator though, I guess that may take time to update.

Hmmmm. That's quite dull. Let's see what the next few days hold...

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I too wanted the Driver Assistance Pack on my order but the dealer was unable to place an order with the pack on. They spoke to Audi and been told that it’s been dropped from all Audi model orders for three weeks as there is an issue with it currently. Wondering whether to wait the time to put the order in but there’s no firm guarantee it’ll be resolved within the three weeks.

Thanks @rubberjabber, that's useful to know. For me, I'm happy waiting, but I'll see what my Dealer can fathom - and see if they get a similar answer.

Worth the wait.. the adaptive cruise and traffic jam assist are really excellent,, as are extra safety stuff as always...

Has anybody actually driven an 18MY S5 who has also driven a 17MY S5? Intrigued to know the differences...

Ok - so as of a couple of days ago, Audi appear to be back to normal. All options now available for selection / ordering again.

That is - aside from alloys. Apparently only the standard alloys were included in the re-homologation (spelt??) testing, so other alloys aren't an option, and won't necessarily be until the new specs come out in November (and there's no guarantee they will be by then either). Which makes Audi's S5 one of the few, if not only, luxury car from a major car brand where you don't have a choice of alloys.

Which is irritating as I'd like the rotor alloys (but may have another solution). Anyway - by and large - things appear to be back to normal. Just waiting for a delivery date (or indication of one), but it's looking like March 2018 . . . probably. Will know more in a week or two.

Why so long to wait? I originally specced a car in July but the order wasn’t placed with Audi until 10th September (as I don’t need the car until March!). Got an email on Friday saying it was scheduled to be built 6th Nov, so even allowing for build, transport to Uk and prep I’d expect I could have had it by Christmas if I’d wanted - which I desperately do but can’t afford to have 2 cars being paid for in Jan and Feb!

Mines the coupe if that makes any difference, as I think the cab has longer lead times (I know of someone who ordered the month before me and had had Jan as his build start date!)

Well I've not had it confirmed yet, it's just guidance from the Dealer. Yes - it's a cab, but also with Audi Exclusive paint, but the paint should (I'm told) only add a month or so onto the process. But we'll see. The original delivery date before the suspension nonsense was estimated at around November. I've no idea why it might by March now (something to do with a backlog and available build dates etc etc), but still awaiting confirmation . . . will keep you posted.

Co2 figure gone from 171 to 179 on the S4 Avant

Don’t think that changes anything though (cost wise in the UK), the coupe going from 170 to 174 adds £300 to the list price as the tax goes from £500 to £800. This is already reflected on the UK website - wonder how it’ll affect orders that have already been accepted and negotiated (like mine). I realise the money will be going to the gov but it’s going to have to come from somewhere, and I bet it won’t be from Audi!

Does anyone know how long you can keep your car beyond the original pcp agreement

Does anyone know how long you can keep your car beyond the original pcp agreement

If you want to keep the car you either have to pay the ‘balloon’ or, depending on the marque, some will let you negotiate a new deal, but as the car belongs to the finance company once your PCP agreement ends it’ll depend on them if they want to play ball if you don’t stump up the final payment.

Just to add, we have a S5 on order from July, but it has been delayed due to production issues

Hey guys

I too ordered mine beginning july, then got told few weeks ago that production halted and delivery expected jan or so

I couldnt wait so opted to cancel then got cla call to say car made it off the production line so im back on track,

Expecting delivery within 7-10 days .... oh boy

Audi - maddening sometimes.

Ordered a new S5 Cab. Extended the Audi PCP finance on my current A5 Cab (end of December) as much as was possible so I still had my current car until the new one turned up in November / December.

Then Audi suspended production. And now unsuspended, i won't get the car (as it has an exclusive paint option) until about March or April, but even though it's Audi's **** up they won't extend the existing finance any further, meaning I'd have to refinance it myself (which I have very little interest in doing). After numerous phone calls with Audi UK and the Dealership, this is their final position on the matter.

Oh and to add to that, Audi no longer currently supplying the rotor alloys I wanted.

Madness.

So now - cancel the order, get a stock car, carry on with order and just sort a hire car / other means out after December until the new car turns up?? However I've kind of got bored of the whole process. It seems very un-Audi like this approach to 'looking after the customer'.

Just ranting / rambling really.

Is it Nardo Grey by any chance?
