Anyone fitted a DV+, i picked one up for the S3 and i see you can install with or without the spring. Spring is prefered i think but it can throw up Fault codes, just wondered if anyone here has the spring fitted ?

Fit it with the spring Paddy, that's how it is on the instructions and how i had it on mine. Just put a little engine oil on the piston.
I sold mine when i got the 8V as it doesn't fit, but now I have the larger Revo intake pipe it will so im after another!

And I bought yours Julian! @paddy, fit as above.

You won't be disappointed.

Thanks guys, spring it is then, i have a VWR intake on the horizon as well now, not cheap but i am hoping that being an inclosed filter it might not be to much like driving a 300bhp Dyson so worth a little extra :)

The VWR is a good choice for us oldies, not that much louder than stock tbh.
I tried most of them and settled on the VWR
@samuelh_888 yeah I remember. They are the same fitting on the 8v but foul on the oem intake pipe. Did you sell the APR hpfp on in the end of are you still looking at 2+?

Yeah - unfortunately I sold it but I shouldn't have. I recently went Stg2 but may still go to St2+ in the near future - just enjoying the car at the moment.

Shame....I was stage 2 for quite a while before 2+ ......big difference you need to make the jump!

I've got the VWR intake too as I couldn't handle the noise from the open intakes I tried, especially with the DV+. Even my kids were asking what the noise was every time I lifted off! Was told it wouldn't flow above 360ps but I'm running 400ps with it.

****** hell....well that worked, i knew something was very wrong with the car, it would have alright days and pretty poor days and it was just chance really as i was working through the cheap fixes to try that i picked on the DV this week. Anyway the car is completely transformed, it used to accelerate in a pretty linear fashion, steady i would call it. Now it accelerates pretty quickly but the speed of acceleration increases with the revs so by the time you hit 5k+ you tend to back off a bit where as i used to try and push the peddle through the carpet in an effort to get it to go......
My original DV was not the diaphragm type , it was the later basket type but obviously there was a fault with it as revs/boost built up, a problem that has now gone Anyway, thanks Whoever invented the DV+...........
Ordered a VWR CAI from a well known outlet on line to be told a day later they dont have it in stock. Didn't stop them processing the credit card transaction though..Why do people advertise and sell stuff they dont have ? If i did that with my business i doubt i would last long in the motorbike world :)

Dv+ does make a difference. I had 4 different dv's and settled for dv+ few years back and never looked again. It's a fit and forget solution with great benefits.
About vwr, many shops nowdays work like that unfortunately. They sell items that they don't have in stock...

Thanks S
Whats happened to your thread ? Seems to dry up around last April ?

Ha ha yes, well i usually get their in the end. Mine looks a little easier to get to than yours.
Got the TT engine cover ordered this morning to go with the VWR CAI as well.

I just wish i could get rid of this ****** " rich at idle" engine light/fault code. I have run out of ideas.

Thanks S

Nothing much. Unfortunately 2017 started bad and my wallet was dry way before april.
Some other things got in the way and some gremlins got in the car too that need sorting out. I'll update the build thread when there will be something to write..

The DV+ is not fit and forget. The potential weak spot is the little Orange O ring on the tip of the black piston. Just checked one bought last November and this has split all round the edge.
Replaced under warranty and so well worth checking every year.

If your windows were down could you hear a quick, high pitched noise when coming off throttle at all? I think I've got a boost leak somewhere, so am getting it checked out whilst other work is being done.

No, not as far as I know as it is my son’s car. It had just been to R Tech a couple of months before and so cannot have been leaking at the time.
The fault was as if the black piston had been pushing into the main housing round the bleed hole too hard causing the outer edge of the little O ring to delaminate.
