ECS light flashing and loss of power and loud popping sound - s3

Monday morning I drove the car 250 miles to Somerset and after hitting my first roundabout I had hesitation and power loss in second gear . The ECS light started flashing for 10 seconds and there was quite a loud popping sound . everything is fine now and drives as normal . Anybody had the same problem with an s3? I know it needs plugging in but not to sure if i should drive it

Sounds like either a bad fuel or maybe a coil pack on the way out - both would trigger mis-fires on VCDS.

Thanks for the reply mate, it's under main dealer warranty still so might just call the Audi breakdown line and get them to diagnose it before driving again . Hopefully it's something simple like that ,was a loud noise

Esc is " emissions control system " according to the manual?! I had traction control off at the time aswell

Was it engine management light flashing or esp?
Short press turns off ESP long press turns off ESP and ASR depending what year is your car. On some cars you can't fully disable ESP.
By your description it sounds like traction control kicking in and causing ignition cut.
 
3 second press on mine , 2012 is the year. It defiantly wasn't traction cutting engine/boost as it was hesitating aswell and that wouldnt explain the loud popping sound . I'll check the manual again but the light that came up references emissions in the manual .

That's what I make it , I wouldn't have worried had it not been for the loud noise. It's only just been into Audi for a cambelt etc

Silly question but how do you turn it back on/reset it? Do you just press the button again?

The traction control? Either press it again or it automatically resets after you turn the ignition off

I turned ESP off this evening but when I hold the button down ASR doesn’t switch off. I’ve not got a 02781 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent code from Carista.

I’ll scan with VCDS when I get home.

Any ideas on 02781?
