Carista App

I tried it a little while ago and it seamed to be giving me reasonable values. With that said, I'm guessing what reasonable values might be. Could be useful if you're having issues with your dpf but beyond that I don't think it really tells you anything useful

Fair enough, I'll give it a go when I get my dongle. I guess if it reads the wrong values then it may be noticeable.

Not having any issues with my DPF but just curious to see the data and learn more about it.

I've bought the dongle and will report back when I get it (have already tested a friends dongle and works fine in my B8.5 SE Technik), however I really don't see any issue with the cheap dongles to be honest. The worst they can do is stop working, it is highly unlikely they will do any damage to the vehicle. I'm sure it will be equally prone to failing as the Carista one. The only reason the Carista dongle is so expensive is because they've OEM'd it, put their branding and packaging on it and they are giving a "free" one month subscription with it, otherwise I am certain that dongle on it's own is not worth more than £5.

The one I posted is from China so a little bit cheaper as they produce and sell in masses.

It's much cheaper to buy a generic dongle like this and then buy the Carista subscription, than it is to buy the Carista dongle and get a "free" 1 month subscription.

Finally got the dongle from China, tested it briefly and seems to work with most apps including Torque but had no luck with Carista (seems to report the dongle as faulty). But for £3 and the ability to use Torque I ain't complaining.

Can you post some things you can do on there ? Looks better than Carista
It's pretty much, VCDS in a nice little package

I've always considered that obdeleven might just be pirated software based around VCDS, but maybe I'm wrong there. If it is genuine reconstructed VAS stuff then okay, if copied from VCDS then that is not so good at all - oh and for me the next issue, not suitable for use with iphone!

Very nice, however, other than the apps, how can I found a list of cordings or how do you figure out how to code?

YouTube! There are quite a few videos out there. I used them to code a few things on mine. I think they even have their own dedicated channel

Does anyone know if I’ll be able to reset the sat nav disk to Eject

Anyone know what this could be?
Engine
Part #: 8V0906259F
Coding: 0A1D00122426010B2004 (hex)
Component: 2.0l R4 TFSI
Fault codes:

Thanks, I can't work anything out from it and Carista fails to clear the fault, saying it has intermittent communication issues

Is the error there on the DIS. I wouldn't worry if it is not showing anything on the DIS.

I had kind of similar issue when I ran VCDS on mine and it showed something like:

Structure-borne sound
Part #: 8K0907159
Coding: [none]
Component: SAS-GEN 2
Fault codes:
00006 Manufacturer-specific code

Couldn't clear it but then it disappeared itself. I then ran Carista and it showed my the below error but there wasn't nothing on the VCDS.

CAN network gateway
Part #: 8R0907468P
Coding: 80CF07FF00 (hex)
Component: GW-BEM 5CAN-M
Fault codes:
00384 Optical Databus

As they say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it :tonguewink:... No dash faults no faults I say :sunglasses:. I wouldn't worry too much.

ADS did not come with my car but I have read here you can get it via Carista App.

Is it worth getting Audi Drive Select?
Even if your car is mapped?
Is it worth getting for a manual gearbox?

Remember ADS was an expensive Audi option at the time.

@A4A4, the only difference you’d notice would be with the steering. Mine didn’t come with ADS or sports diff as I wasn’t interested in it. The only difference it has made, which I can notice is by leaving the steering in Comfort. It is a lot better than what it was now. On a remapped car, the throttle response whether you leave it in Dynamic or Comfort etc it won’t make much of a difference or at least it hasn’t to me.

Carista doesn't like my cheap Chinese OBD2 adapter.

Is the £15.99 Amazon option the cheapest working adapter at the moment?

Cheers,

Russ

Great, thanks.

So no issues using Carista? My need is that for some reason my welcome home lights now only work once you open the car door to get out. Used to work as soon as I took the key out of the ignition. Also my leaving home lights (come on when you unlock the car) just decided to stop working.

I did wonder if me putting the cheap adapter in there might have screwed something up. Although the lighting options are still there on the MMI, just not taking effect???

Presuming with Carista I can make all these changes? Do I have to purchase the Carista software?

Believe the home coming lights depends on the light and should work when it is dark. You should be able to make all the changes using Carista app, which is free and will cost you if you want to make changes which are not free?

Can I ask where are you based. If close to Oxford I am happy to do it for you for free - won’t cost you a penny

The home coming lights do work but only once I open the car door, up until yesterday they used to work as soon as the key was out of the ignition, bizarre!

I'm in Epsom, Surrey, but thanks for the offer anyway.

Russ

Russ I'm in Epsom mate and have Carista and the OBD if you need some help?

Legend!! Cool, PM me, when can we meet up? Do you have the OBD2 adapter as well? I'm going to buy one anyway, seems silly not to for the money.

Yes I have the adapter. Surprisingly when Carista released the latest version my Bluetooth adapter wouldn't work anymore, but I have a WiFi one and that still works. Was messing around with it a couple of days ago activating the Drive Select on mine amongst other things. Will PM you

Bit late to the party on this one

I always set the rear lights as DRL's (with the fronts of course!) when the clocks go back on my S4 with Carista
I'll put it back to standard when the clocks goes foreword again in March

I noticed that you can now adjust the soundaktor, which is factory set at 99.61%
You can also now adjust the intensity of the front DRL's when the headlights are lit. Factory set at 28%

I already have oil temp / lap timer, beep alarm on locking & memory function on stop/start button set with Carista earlier

Rear lights are on all the time on my car. Like to be seen by the cars behind me.

***, just cannot get it to work!

Bought this: Amazon product

Looks to be exactly the same one the_muzza used on my car during the week. Will it connect, will it bo**ocks!

On my phone the wifi connection has "!" against it all the time and keeps asking me to turn on the bluetooth, doesn't give me an option to choose wifi connection. On the Kindle it just says the adapter is faulty. On the wife's phone when diagnosing faults it gets to 25%, then says it is faulty.

£10 wasted by the looks of it!

Should the wifi look like this, will it matter & therefore not connect?

Russboy believe you are using it on an Android device? Have you tried it at a place where you have good 3/4G connection and see if it makes any difference. All you are doing here is using you phone 3/4G as a hotspot so, it should work.

Yep, Android phone. So are you saying the phone has to have net access at the time?

****** phone won't let me tell it that it's a WiFi adapter, presumes Bluetooth and can't clear it, even by uninstalling etc.

Had a look at Carista website and it appears the “!” sign is normal. Read below.

That is if you have the WiFi adapter. If it is a Bluetooth then read below

Haha. You get a link to a working device, and you buy something else...

Carista only works with a few devices, so you can be lucky or need to buy a new one that is said to be working.

Bluetooth is easier to get working, than wifi.

Yes, I bought something that I have seen works as it was used on the car during the week, just doesn't work for me.

I'll just send it back & order the other one, it'll be here tommorow.

Aah ok then. I haven't been that lucky with any wifi products in cars. Bluetooth has been the best option for me.
