I had ab I phone 5 when I got my A3 Sline 2 yrs ago. Last year I got Annwyl I phone 7. Last few months phone charges intermittently as if a poor connection, and garage told me need a new led for i phone 7 at £68.00!!!!!!

Connection, i.e. lighting lead seems same for both phons , so is garage wrong and I have a faulty lead?

Cheers,

Martha

A new lead as in a charging lead for your phone? Just buy a new one from Apple

I've got a 5s and it used to charge intermittently.

I found a large number of clumps of fluff and dust in the actual charge port of the phone after a needle and playing around if you want to try that (make sure your phone is turned off before doing so)

Failing this try a different lightning cable (such as a friends) and if it works you'll need a new cable which you can get off of Amazon for around £5, not £70!

I'm talking about the MMI lead, if that helps.

I am told that the Audi MMI lead does not work for different apple i phones, even though they have the same lightning cable. I changed my I phone 5 to a 7 and Audi tells me that is why the MMI cable does not work, and wants £68.00 for another.

How is this if they have the same charger and lighting port - doesn't make sense to me. I'm not convinced Audi is giving me the correct advice.

lso I have to tkae my car for a near 100 mile round trip to a dealership next week as the garage didn't turn the service inspection light off after service - not good!

usb is usb! That's all I use, the same one I use in the house to charge the phone.

My car is a 2015 A3. Where is the USB port/socket in the car then? I'm not aware of there being one hence need for cable.

Oh sorry just been to look, I got this lead when I collected the car and plug directly into that:

Mine's different to that - lighting connector at one ned - not usb - maybe I need a usb One then.

Cheers,

Martha

The other end of the white cable I have is lighting connector (the one that came with the phone), what leads did Audi give you?

When I bought my 65 plate A3 Audi gave me an MMI to USB for Android and an MMI to Lightening for iPhone.

I never use it though. Streaming music over Bluetooth is really poor sound quality and streaming via the MMI cable is a faff as you can’t browse the music files via the stereo controls.

I just copy all my MP3s to SDCard and it sounds better and I don’t need to connect the phone each time I get in the car.
