Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

Those with the FL - is there no sound proofing under the bonnet on the RS3?

Not on any of the ones I've seen so far neg (picking mine up tomorrow........)

So would you say its like the S3 in normal driving until you get to 3rd gear and above plus louder when valves are closed too?

Hm, it drives like an A3 like it should do but in dynamic you always get the 5 cylinder burble no matter how gentle you are it’s fantastic!

It’s not loud with th valves closed, it’s pretty quiet.

The noise with the brakes sounds like the usual sound when having drilled disks - I put the Clubsport S drilled disks on my R just before I sold it and they made the same noise, like you said it sounds like they are catching - they got better over time.

Yeah I thought it would have been the drilled discs causing it, I thought it was just one side but shortly before I took it back yesterday I heard it on the other too. Otherwise I was going to tell them there was an issue on the one side.

The drilled disc noise does get louder & more noticeable the further you drive the car and more pad debris goes on the discs.

You would be amazed how much $hit comes off when you pressure wash the discs on these cars.

Once you get it all off, the noise is totally eradicated for a while until the build up causes it to start again.

I've never had to pressure wash discs before in my life, but with this car its essential :)

If you keep on top of it I suppose its no big issue but its just annoying you have to do it at all.

That’s an interesting thing to note, I often avoid washing the discs.

Managed to obtain a quote today on an RS3 Sportback with mythos black, sport seats, hill hold, folding mirrors, black roof rails and high gloss styling pack. Pretty basic but all I'd want in all honesty. 4 year term and 556 a month. Was ideally looking to keep it no more than 550 with 4k in. More than I wanted to spend given I looked at the S3, but why take an S3 just because.

He wants 1,000 deposit to secure it, I've only ever put 500 in when securing an order

So your complaining for £6 extra a month? Lol. I am sure you can afford that.

As for the deposit - most dealers want 10% of the total on RS models. To only put £1,000 down is not unreasonable. I had to put £2K down on mine to place my order.

Lol...well I'm not really ha, just makes me feel slightly better telling the fiancé it's only 505 a month with 3k down lol. Could drop the black and opt for the Nardo to shave 12 or so quid off I suppose.

The Audi is down south, so il see if my local dealer can match it, however, 200 or so miles isn't that far away

Get the sports exhaust or the residuals will suffer.....

Was thinking that, but I'd have to put an extra grand in, so like 5k to keep it at 550. I'd be keeping it for its hole term anyway, and more than likely ha ding they keys back after 4 years, so it's GFV doesn't bother me too much. Nothing a Milltek down the line can't sort ha

It’s worth it though, quite a big difference. I agree on the Milltek, but you can’t sell the car back to Audi with that exhaust as they can’t sell it with it. In 4 years you will have more equity in the car, more cash back with an exhaust. Plus the mapping is different with the exhaust, more crackles.

Hmmmmm, worth considering! I'm waiting on hearing back about a bonus in the next week, so if all works out the way it should I think I'll have to treat myself. 5k in though...getting stupid money do you think considering I will be handing it back after the term?

Why would you want to hand it back at the end of the term? The GFV on these is quite low in my opinion. After 4 years I’d like to think one of these will still command £30k plus. Cant see Mk1s dropping much below £20k, PFL £25-28k and these £30k. All ok the mk’s are great cars, amazing engine and best of all exclusive with limited build numbers. Perfect receipt for “future classics”. All my opinion of course....

4 years of extra noise is worth it! When the sales manager is telling me he’s disappointed he’s being given a car without the exhaust, you know it’s worth having

Get a PFL Fraser. Sound better and has the pops and bangs. Cheaper too!

What kind of PCP / finance deals are you guys doing for 550month with only 4k/5k in??
And as for FBF01 above stating 3k deposit and only 505 a month !! I think you're living in cloud cuckoo land !
What total value car, GFV, APR, & term of deal are you looking at...?
Not sure if you guys have your sums right, sounds a little low to me with such small deposits (3k, 4k, 5k) for 500-550 a month!
Check out this calculator....
http://www.pcpcal.co.uk/
With a 5k deposit on a 50k spec RS3 over 48months and Std Audi finance APR of 6% with GFV of 23k after 4yrs you're looking at 631 a month.
Unless of course you're going down the bank loan route but even with an APR of 3% on the above example its 544 a month.
Incidentally my FL RS3 was 49K (cheap by others specs but its got the all important Sports Ex), over 48months with GFV of 23k, 11k deposit !! (including 2k dealer discount) and thru Audi finance with APR at 6% and its 455 a month.

@FBF01 run the calcs past us again as low / mid £500's p/m seems remarkable without a mahoosive deposit.

TX.

Yes its not too bad - try the PCP calculator link above its very accurate.
If you keep the spec low i.e 47k you can get monthlies at 550odd with only 5k deposit.
But I would definelty add the Sports Exhaust. I have one and its sounds awesome.

I think I'll opt for sports exhaust, but as you say I will need a 5k deposit to be circa 550.

Tweaked spec to Nardo and black wheels, so alongside exhaust and the other bits and pieces above, may be more like 560 with only 5k in. Just trying to decide if i want to put as much money down as that. Seems a hell of a lot. Put in more money to keep monthlys lower, or put in less but just understand il be paying higher monthlies. Hmmmmm

Its swings and roundabouts. I had the same issue but decided to spend some savings to keep the monthlies down - i just hated the idea of paying +500 a month every month, but then again +400 is only slightly better !

£550 per month £4K deposit £1900 discount 4 years....5k miles...£1200 negative on rs3

What spec car is that on? I got to change the oil in my S3 so I might go inside and get a quote of RS3 saloon.

Anybody know the lead times on the Sportback?

Looks like il be ordering next week for 1st April delivery....and yes, I meant April not March

Handy link the PCP calc.

So does PCP only really work for low deposits, if you planned to put in a large deposit then a personal loan at the current rate is a much cheaper option.

PCP for example over 36months is around £140 p/m just for the interest on the GFV (£26k) - you can't do this as there is a maximum deposit I believe but just for calculation purposes.

My build date just got brought forward another few weeks :)
Now 9th October. Not bad considering I was initially told wouldnt get it till end of Jan.

Any of you thought of doing pcp through your bank. I was looking at it and it will take 65pm off my monthlys
