Hi everyone have a4 b5 avant with the apu engine really want to up the power already have straight though exhaust still have the cat in place had a remap currently running 195 bhp really want more anyone got a suggestion thanks

The turbo you have wont do any more, so any additional power either needs a new, larger turbo, or as Kev says, Nitrous.

One of the K04's (can never remember which) bolts straight on after clocking the housing, set of C20LET injectors and a VR6 MAF housing the original sensor and an upgrade to the intercooler and you're good for about 230bhp.

I sourced mine second hand for about 250. Injectors were 100, MAF was 45,intercooler 200. (my injectors and May housing will be for sale as have upgraded further and am in the process of changing the management over.

Depends what you're like with a set of spanners. Took a friend and I an afternoon and evening to do the hardware with my ruined back. Couple of the bolts are awkward (turbo oil return) and will have you swearing.

OK don't sound to bad just need to find all the bits I need cheers

It will operate without but to get the results from it a chip will need to be written. Alternatively you can swap to a Golf AGU ecu which can then be dashed via the OBD port.

OK sounds good so I can expect 250bhp will I need to upgrade the clutch

Scratch ECU comment as it's the later DBW ECU so can be flashed anyway.

I was making 245bhp with the standard 180,000 Mike clutch. I did suffers failure of the flywheel but think that was more mileage and abuse related

What c20let injections do I need there are loads of different ones

Also someone suggested bex turbo from a b6 will that fit

The BEX turbo is thesame as the "k03s" and will bolt right on. Only good for 230ish though realistically.

For 250 you'll need a hybrid.

No factory k04 fits, well bar the -015 special that Borg Warner made, however that's basically just a k03s.

The throttle body looks different on mine compared to the bex one

So if I put the bex turbo on and different injectors will that get me more power

OK cool need to sort my alloys out first really don't like the rs4 I think they make the car older than it is

If you fit the turbo you will get a small boost, but it'll more or less make stock power. You'll need a custom remap to get the most from it.

The injectors can only be fitted with a remap to suit. I think the APU injectors are a little larger anyway, you might get away without changing them on an APU, but you'd need to check the flow rate.

If you run the stock MAF in a VR6 housing that will scale close enough. Ran mine like this with a Superchip and with a wideband probe up its bum and det cans it was pretty good.

Slippery slope though, if I'd known then what I do now I would have just got an S4 lol

APU is different (ME7.1) and not as easy to fool like that. Unlike the AEB the ME7.1 management has boost sensing and nailing a scaled MAF in will just cause the ECU to get unhappy.

With the older ECU's they could be fooled by using a larger MAF. Its a bit of a bodge but worked ok.

With your car, its ECU is cleverer and cant be fooled the same way.

You need a remap to match whatever changes you make.

Ok it's already had a remap but once I put the new turbo on will it need another one?
