Facelift RS3 Genuine Secondary Cat Bypass Pipes

Yes correct, but note yours also shuts too! Even in full dynamic all RS cars still use the valves.
Open in first all the time then closed in 2nd upwards until about 4k revs (PFL).

First stage 1 on his FL RS3? (Can't tell if its FL or PFL from video) Description says AK47 mode added too, hear it for yourself. I prefer the big pop/bang the PFL had. +31KW and +100nm at the wheels.

Woah £223 for that? Doesn't seem like it should be that expensive.
Isn't it better to just unplug and keep valves open... sound proofing has improved A LOT in the facelift. Won't be a problem even when in comfort cruising for noise inside the cabin will it if valves are left opened after unplugging?

How much quieter would you say the FL is? Fundamentally it is still the same car so am surprised NVH levels are much changed at all.

I agree with you now, it’s the same on the FL when you get on it in 2nd but it sounds rubbish up to that point.

Not really no. The car needs valves, sat at 70mph you have a constant rumble and over an hour journey it will really get on your boobies haha. It’s amazing how much louder it is without, I will definitely have my controller on mine.

What's the third link? Looks like the keys to take some of the dash buttons out.

It's for operate the valves with the parkassist button instead of the remote control.

Hm, mixed reviews on that as it would stick out like a sore thumb to Audi with an RS3 which never was available with it.

Perhaps if it used a blank button, it would be more desirable.

The decat bypass pipes numbers you want are

8S0 254 502 A
8S0 254 503 A

I can confirm these fit thr PFL as i fitted them today with great sucess!

Gasket and nuts are

W8D0 253 115 C (GASKET)
WN 911 308 01 (NUT)

So order 2 Gaskets and i would order 10 nuts as there are 3 per pipe up front and 2 per sleeve clamp at the rear you could also replace the bolt on the sleeve part aswell but i didnt bother.
These genuine Audi decat bypass pipes, I assume I can order these from any Audi dealership? I'm tempted. I also seem to recall someone saying they were cheaper than the Millteks?!

Edit: just found the info buried in this thread.

indeed just order them from the dealers they might get all excited as they don't receive many exhaust orders.

and yes they are cheaper than the milltek ones!

Did I not read in another thread that UK Spec cars already have these pipes fitted from factory?

Correct for the FL. PFL doesn't, however. It was already too loud! ;)

Right, just ordered the pipes from Audi. Will be interesting to see what difference they make and of course, it will be the same set up as the FL.

Absolutely huge difference, your car will be totally ASBO.

When you listen to the above, the PFL doesn’t sound anywhere near as good which is annoying, but is the fix purely a down pipe? Just sounds a bit tinny in comparison

I'm hoping they'll be as good as the Milltek...I mean, it's just a pipe, so surely should be?!
correct, if you have audi sports echaust it sounds unchanged in comfort but dynamic is louder. no brainer imo!

Yes it’s just a straight pipe, nice bolt on part.

Really, now you will hear gunshots

It's already insanely loud to my ears. I'm not usually into crazy loud cars but the RS3 is just addictive!

Am I being too optimistic to expect any kind of increase in performance, even if it's just 1bhp?!

It's about to get louder, haha.. pure brute!

It will have better flow no doubt, but you'd be extremely unlikely to notice it driving.

How long do the bypass pipes take to fit? I'll have to take it somewhere and don't want to be ripped off.

Half hour at most, take it to an exhaust shop.. cheap labour. Cut one side, bolt the other.

I’d have them welded in on the cut side, to stop any possibility of blowing.

Was hoping they were just a bolt in job... didn't really want to start welding?

Just been under mine
And no 2nd cats on it

Which begs the question, how have they managed to balls it up and not get it sounding as deep and warbly as the PFL, which has secondary cats?!

Unfortunately not, it requires a cut on the one side. You can ask to have it clamped but I’ve been there and done that, welding is much longer lasting.

That’s what I want to know, if I can do something warranty friendly it will be done. Perhaps just a different backbox? Hopefully one day soon somebody will make the swap to test it. I will speak kindly to the parts guy at my local Audi and see if the part numbers for the back boxes are different, theoretically they should be the same.

I’m waiting for third party companies to release exhaust systems. On the PFL those systems are no better than the OEM amazing sports exhaust. Perhaps this time around, they will make an improvement.

Cut one side of what exactly ?

PFL and FL have flange & bolts one end and sleeve clamps the other.

Yes, just watched a video and no welding required. Looks easy to do, to the point I reckon even someone with my limited ability could do it if I had a ramp.

What are your thoughts on what it did for the sound of your 8V PFL?

Just seemed louder in Dynamic.

Didn’t overly blow me away though.

As it was bonkers loud already

On the 8P the difference was really noticeable though, but that is a different kettle of fish.
