8V VCDS Mods

I don't. So I imagine OBD11 is interpreting the data different and may be doing something else. Or maybe it isn't. Maybe because I'm a MY18 it just works. Who knows?!

My friend's tts use VCDS changed g-force display can not working because VC version not right.
So maybe MY18 VC version can do more function.
Hope the engine date can working one day, I saw it in R8 was really cool...

Has anyone got ‘pace car’ lights working? I found a sheet with instructions but I followed the pictures and it didn’t work. The page was in French.

http://ankk-vagcom.com/golf-7-5g-clignotants-arrieres-led-en-opposition-de-phase/

That is what didn’t work on my car.
The guide contained within the above linked page contains the same coding I use for this modification. The only time this does not work is if your default factory coding for your rear clusters is different, which happens from time to time. To see how you are configured do the following:
  • Head over to my Site Sponsor forum section and look for the Adaptation and Coding backup guide.
  • Make an Adaptation Map of control module 09
  • Open the CSV file and search for: LED Blinkleuchten
  • Anything assigned "LED Blinkleuchten" will be your rear clusters
Now you have found your rear turning signals you can test for your wanted mod by changing the "Lichtfunktion A" channels of each as needed. Remember to make notes.

@DJAlix Got a question for you... I tried to enable TPMS on a MY16 A3 today, but couldn't get the ABS module coding right, supposedly, some module has 29 byte and some module has 30 byte which should ends with 08 for byte 30? Well, this car has only 29 byte but it ends with 08 as well... I tried all combinations with byte 27 (assuming the "08" is actually byte 30), 28 and 29 with direct input but TPMS error came up, and then I tried checking all the bits' combinations but couldn't get "3" for first digit for byte 28 (and 27) at all... Does this make sense? Here's the coding, do you know what the correct coding should be?

You have a 30 Byte module but don't forget the the Bytes count from zero, so number 0 to 29.

Thanks, you're right lol, it's 30 bytes... But I did try that exact coding but still with error.... Guess will try it again...

Were you editing the Bytes or were you trying to cut and paste the long coding string directly in to the new coding field? Also, were all the doors closed but not locked? Had you reset the MMI after each coding step up to this point?

There are a few "conditions" which you need to get correct before the coding will take.

Editing the bytes directly... I didn't know about the doors lol will give it another shot! thanks!

Does anyone know how to change the VC faceplates into a RS3? I can't manage to get the RS3 boot logo, on a A4 and A5 it works but on my A3 not. I can get the S3 Quattro bootlogo en rev limiter block.

Never mind, i got it. VCP was acting weird, but it is setting 05 in 17

Sorry if it feels like spamming...but i can't find the option to edit my posts.

@DJAlix i retrofitted Side assist a while ago on my FL. However i figuring out some coding:

1) the audible beep when rear cross traffic is coming. I did find something in text coding with VCP in module 10. I will try to turn it on tomorrow.
2) the brake jolt when you almost hit a cross traffic car. This could be coding in ABS. But i can't manage that to find the right coding.

Factory equipped RTCA has both of the above options. It also shows on Audi product video's.

Do you know which byte / bit i need to change in my ABS? And in 10 for the audible beep.

Hi all
VCDS newbie here - got the cable but never used it yet. Now I feel I want make some changes - needle sweep, Scandinavian lights, jukebox etc so is there any reason not to use the latest 17.8.0 version of the software? I have the earlier versions if necessary and don't want to use the latest if there might be any problems. My car is a PFL A3 1.4COD S-Tronic MY2015.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Ross-Techs software development history has pretty much been rock solid, and they have never released a "problem" version of VCDS on to the public. Even the beta's are quality in my experience. General rule of thumb is to always use the latest version of VCDS as it will be the most compatible.

So, new S3 owner and thinking about getting VCDS - love a bit of techy nerdery!
What I would like to do, assuming possible, is:

Enable optical parking display (only have rear sensors that beep)?
Show tyre pressures?
G-force and engine power/torque readouts?
Alarm chirp?
Change indicator flashes to 4/5?

Plan to look into retrofit rear camera, too, so the VCDS will come in handy then, too.

Parking display is not possible on FL

  • Not possible via VCDS unfortunately
Show tyre pressures?
  • Requires additional hardware retrofitting, including a new control module and sensor valves in the wheels.
G-force and engine power/torque readouts?
  • Both can be activated via VCDS however engine power / torque cannot be configured via VCDS.
Alarm chirp?
  • Not a problem with VCDS

Ah, ok, thanks for the replies ^^
So, won't worry about optical parking and tyre pressure......
Any other exciting things? Kind of sold on buying one anyway, looking for more man-maths justification :p Oh, and then need to figure out which version to buy (currently thinking Hex-V2 3 licence will suffice....maybe 10!....not sure I can see enough benefit for the Hex-Net)

I have a MY2015 A3 1.4COD with LED headlights and auto lights. I want to have my rear lights come on when my front DRLs are on (so-called Scandinavian mode DRLs). I have searched here and on the internet but cannot find a definitive answer. Is this combination possible and if so what is the coding to do it please?

  • 09 - Central Elect
  • Security Access = 31347
  • Adaptation - 10
Search for the following channels and change them to DayTime Running Lights
  • Leuchte23SL HLC10 light function D23
  • Leuchte24SL HRA65 light function D24
There are two "Daytime" options to choose from, I believe you need the top most listed but change one channel first and test etc

Not a problem :) Could always setup a Team Viewer session if you need help. Wish I had more time to help on the forum. Only reason I am replying today is because I have an all day remote session going and can dip in and out while waiting on the remote end.

Hi Alex

Let me try a couple of simple mods and see how I get on. Like most things it's the fear of the unknown and messing things up. But I'll follow the guide in your VCDS Adaptations and Codings booklet and do maybe oil temperature display and needle sweep and see what I find. Else I'll be in touch re the remote session.

Complete an Auto scan before making any changes, this will back up your coding. I have a guide to backup up your adaptations within my sponsor section. As long as you make notes of the changes you make you will be fine :)

Yes I found that document - I'd downloaded it some time ago so I'll have a good read and have a play next week. Wish me luck!

@DJAlix there's quite a few discussions about AWD > Adaptation > Wiring Logic > Increased traction lately on varies forums, the benefit is definitely there, the car is way more neutral with this setting but people are afraid if it would wear out Haldex quicker... I suspect this is what the quattro Drive Select option is on the FL, can you please help verify does changing the quattro setting in Drive Select is indeed changing this setting? Thanks!

I’ve got rear parking sensors only and have activated the visual parking display... works fine for me unless we are talking about different things?

Also I have tyre pressure monitoring. Does that allow coding of showing tyre pressure or do you still need modules and additional sensors?

Am guessing you have a pre-facelift car for this to be working (2013 to mid 2016)

You will have the passive / indirect TPMS system from the factory. Direct / Active is not a factory option for the 8V but can be retrofit. Would need a sensor valve in each wheel, a control module and cabling, and then coding.

So, do I buy Hex-V2 or Hex-Net? Kinda think V2 is more than suitable, but the wifi/mobile features are alluring........thoughts?

Personally I went for HEX-V2 3-VIN. I only wanted it for my car and can still help out friends with scans and codes on that. Plus it’s good for another 2 cars later. And if needs be you can upgrade it to 10-VIN or unlimited by paying a fee to Ross-Tech.

Yep, that seems to make sense......I am caught in the 'oh, it is only +£75 for 10 car licence......oh, then +£100 for the NET version' which, in reality, is most likely more than I need :p
