Any of you guys tried rim protectors for your Audi's?
Was just wondering on your previous experiences.

I was thinking of getting black ones fitted, hence similar colour to the tyres as I'm not looking for a colour contrast change i.e red rim protectors....!!

Just got an RS3 FL so a bit worried the inevitable occurring! my previous S3 managed over a year without incident and then 1,2,3 etc...

I would avoid them, cheapens the car too much just be ultra ultra careful and avoid drive thru's. I only ever go to a drive thru if I can see it's wide enough.

I rarely have to parallel park, touch wood all will be ok.

I'm guessing you mean these alloygator type things? Black ones on black wheels looks ok but on RS3 wheels?....
I've also read they can scratch your wheel lip if stones and grit get stuck and work their way down between the protector and wheel..

My sister has them..I'll say no more :whistle2:

I guess it can't be a good thing that I'm very comfortable driving thru my local maccies :hamburger::frenchfries:

Definitely can't be haha!

I've had 4 cars and to date been ok, touching all wood in the house!!! But I find drive thru's are total guess work and too high risk! Wide drive or no food.

Right then, in that case I'll give them a miss !

They would do the job I'm sure, one that Matt picked out about scratching isn't one I'd heard of but seems likely thinking about it.

It's a case of a £50k car and Halfords style wheel protectors, I laugh at them on KA's even haha.

I have used Alloygators quite a bit on other cars. All I can say is they do what they say on the tin, but look frightful! Black might be the answer.

The utter worste for rim damage is Eurotunnel. Be VERY careful driving through the trains - not only are the walkway edges just at low profile rim height, they have angular chicanes in them designed to clip your tyres if you drive too fast...trouble is they get you even driving slowly.

Yep I've done Eurotunnel and survived but it was scary!

I was thinking black might be the answer as it would (maybe!) blend in to the tyres...?

The only way is with a big SUV and just barge over the chicanes!

Yes, I think Black might be best. If installed correctly, they are OK ish but just look plasticky.
