Well, she arrived this morning and all's I can say is im in love :hearteyes: Cant help but keep it in sport mode so I can hear the popping and banging :grinning: Had the Mrs screaming like she was on a roller coaster :tearsofjoy: she said "Cars DO NOT need to be that fast :tearsofjoy:. It wasnt dirty, but Ive already washed and polished it! I've got a feeling the colour will get on my nerves as Im a clean freak, but when shes washed, i'll be a happy bunny again

Cheers chaps! I drove through Wilmslow today and got some admiring looks, and this is a place full of Porsche, Ferrari's and Lambo's etc etc

Pondering whether to do the exhaust mod still, but its now p****sing down on my lovely clean car, so im staying in! lol

Gorgeous looking car - but I would say that (my S5 Mythos Coupe is due to start build on 6th Nov but I’m not collecting until March 2017!!!).

I too share your Clean Car OCD and worry I’ll spend more time cleaning it than I should!

Only 5 months and 7 days until I collect mine - should fly by!!!

How are you getting to the dealer to collect it, in a Delorean haha!

Assume you mean March 2018... that’s quite a wait!
 
Yep - 2018 - and yeah, one long wait. Waited 4 months for my BMW 435D. From initial deposit, the S5 will be just over 7 months. I’m going to spend it enjoying getting 40mpg and keeping the windows up so I can’t hear the engine!

I thought the 435d would sound nice for a diesel??? 3.0 straight six still arent they???

For a diesel it doesn’t sound too bad from inside the car (synthesised sound if I’m remembering rightly) but from outside, especially before it warms up, you could definitely tell it’s a diesel. It sounds slightly better than the 3.0TDI A5 engine (I had the 245bhp one in a previous A5) I had, which in itself was streets ahead of the truly awful Merc C220D Coupe I had - which sounded very clattery, even when warm.

Tbh the BMWs engine is great (apart from the sound) - 308bhp, loads of torque and without a huge amount of effort, 40mpg is easily achievable. I like the gearbox enough that it hasn’t put me off the S5 (which I haven’t driven!) as they’re both 8-Speed ZFs. I just feel the need to do a decent petrol engine before some government bans them all and makes me drive a milk float. The only semi decent petrol I’ve driven was the Golf GTI as I moved to diesels once I found the A5 back in ‘07.

Thats EXACTLY why Ive gone for this beast. In a few years time you wont be able to buy them, and they'll be so heavily taxed you wont be able to afford them! I do less that 10k a year, so the cost of fuel isnt an issue.

I do love the BM 3.0 diesel engines though, silky smooth!

The gearbox's in these are great, really fast changes for a non DCT

You wont regret the order ;)
 
Be interesting to compare the power from a 335d vs a S5. Wonder who would end up a wining in a straight
 
Surely the S5 :D, on paper though, there's only .3 of a second between them :fearscream: A tractor as fast our pride n joys! :D

I had a “spirited” drive on a “private” strip of tarmac in my S5 against a colleague of mine at work in his 435D Xdrive Gran coupe, I can confirm the S5 tore him a new one (for want of a better word), standing starts, mid range and particularly top end, it pulled car lengths on him over quarter mile (ish) distances.

The BMW 35d engines are awesome and have more torque than the B9 S5 but in a considerably narrower power band.
 
Very nice indeed I can confirm Black is the best colour for thesehowever I hope you like detailing because i do and it’s very hard to keep swirl free!
