Hi there, new RS3 owner here as of last week. Had a couple of cars in mind but couldn't resist the thought of owning a 5 cylinder engine.

So the help I require, turns out my new RS3 has a upgraded Forge intercooler (which is fine by me) and a custom remap (some concern), car dynos at 407bhp. My concern is that the custom remap might be too aggressive for my everyday use. The previous owners had it as a weekend car, so perhaps component reliability was not high on their agenda as the car is very low mileage for the year.

My question is, what does the standard power delivery of a RS3 normally feel like? Currently I press the throttle, turbo whistles as it spools and then I'm hit with a surge of power. So I hear people saying "but that's what turbos do?", this feels a lot more aggressive than any other car I've driven, reminds me a lot of the old Evos. Another description is that the car does not accelerate it literally jumps forward once spooled.

I've attempted to contact the remap company but 2 messages left and no reply as of yet.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1) My new RS3 has a upgraded Forge intercooler (which is fine by me).

I agree

2) What does the standard power delivery of a RS3 normally feel like?

I love it and use it where and when necessary

3) My concern is that the custom remap might be too aggressive for my everyday use.

I agree, but we all drive differently and what might suit one may not suit all.

4) Currently I press the throttle, turbo whistles as it spools and then I'm hit with a surge of power. So I hear people saying "but that's what turbos do?", this feels a lot more aggressive than any other car I've driven, reminds me a lot of the old Evos. STD 2011 motor spools quickly, and smoothly, to 450Nm @ 1600 rpm - mega for (me for) everyday road use, summer/winter wet or dry.

You need to decide how you want the car to perform for your own driving requirements and arrange or re-arrange the 'tune' to do just that; sounds like you'd prefer it as Audi arranged in 2011, and I'd go along with that, and have for 6-years now - for everyday use.
