Hi all,

My driver side window wont come down anymore and so stuck, the garage said it needed a new driver side window motor replacing.

I've since replaced the Motor / regulator but after trying to lower the window with the window buttons, I can hear something tick inside the door but nothing happens.

Have I missed a step or is there another issue I need to look at?

It's only the driver side door window with the issue the passenger side works fine.

Regards
Dan

Have you checked the wiring that goes into the door by the hinge? Unclog the rubber boot and check there are no broken or rubbed wires in that area. It's common that wiring can break at this point as the door is used a lot.

not to bust your balls as you are an innocent victim but anytime in the future you run into problems please consult the experts on ASN as this group has always saved me money and pointed me in the right direction.

A bit of an update.
My drivers door wouldn't unlock always via key fob. Checked the wires and few of them were cut clean. Repaired the wires today and still no luck with it. So took the door lock out, gave it a good clean, new grease and it's working again.

So if anyone has the same issue check the wires and lock first before purchasing new parts. It might be just the case of cut wires or door lock actuator stuck from dirt and old grease.

Hi all,

Thanks for the photo image, I started to pry off the rubber on the inside of the car end first and before it was even off a 30amp fuse blew the front driver door fuse, so i left it alone.

Should I continue pulling the rubber away or will this cause further damage?

Also saw in another post try pressing the window switch with the motor plugged in but not screwed into the door, replacement motor just made a clicking noise and didn't see the spindle move (also tested with old motor and had the same happen).

Is it worth trying another motor if this replacement is also faulty or is it more likely damaged wire as per the image above

also I replaced the blown fuse while testing the motors and no luck, checked fuse after and it's still ok

Regards
Dan

Dan,
It's likely that broken wires in the door loom caused your fuse to blow, perhaps the reason the new fuse is still intact is that the broken wires are not shorting as they did the first time you played with the connectors.
You are going to have to open the rubber boot to see . Hope you get it sorted.

might be worth asking @tcardio as he says better to consult the experts on ASN so i am sure he will have the answer . Hope you get it fixed and as others have said a process off elimating is starting with removing the rubber boot and check your wires vause as you can see from pics how easy they can show ware as your door is probably open more often that any other bit off your car .
