Good evening,

I have a few issues regarding my 04 1.8t avant, firstly I have noted a rust hole develop around the pre-drilled hole in the subframe, is this and issue and how can I fix it?

and secondly, Is it just me or do these engines go through a lot of oil? I have changed the rocker cover gasket and there is still some seepage around the gasket, I also have a lot of oil/grime around the diverter valve, I have to top up my oil every two weeks or so. I do not have any substantial leaks as there is nothing leaking onto the ground underneath my car. Is this normal?

Oil splatter around the DV suggests vacuum/boost pipe leak. Very common on VAG 1.8T's, & can be hard to pin down on the braided pipes. Best bet is to replace all the small braided pipework.

You dhould be able to get it from a motor factor, & cut it to length. IIRC you'll need inner diameter 3, & 4mm.
There are usually silicone pipe kits on eBay too.
