im looking to buy some new wheels for my car and they say they're 8J, how do I match the sizes up to make sure they'll fit my car and my tyres?

Thanks

Minimum tyre width for 8" is 215.
Ideal is 225 or 235.
Maximum is 245.

As far as I remember, A3 was okay with 225 and 235 but 245 would rub.

specifics please.... I'm led to assume you're looking for 18"

are you planning on transferring tyres off your original alloys? what fitment and size are your original alloys? what fitment and size are the new alloys?

I`m lowered at the rear 40mm and front 50mm with 8j offset 43mm and 235/40/18 tires, front 225, I have a small amount of scrub on the rear with the rear liner screw removed.
Offset is critical to tire choice, if you go 32mm offset you will have stretch a 215 tyre on.
The standard offset on 18" A3 wheels is 54mm, the smaller the offset the further out the wheel sits from the hub.

Yeah I have 18"a at the minute, tyres are 225/40/18.

Looking to transfer tyres yes.

New rims messurments says,
Offset: 42
Stud diamiter: 122
Rim width: 8J

Check you stud diameter, it should be 112.
offset will be fine on 225s

I suspect 122 is a typo meaning 112, in which case Jake12 that fitment will be absolutely fine, they'll sit really nicely flush with the arches too
