Hi, my names David. I will apologise in advance for this tread, as its probably been posted about a million times!! If this thread needs to be moved feel free to or tell me if i need to move it personally.

I have a 2011 Audi A4 B8 2 TDI Quattro. It has Bluetooth, DAB Band & Olifsen sound system and the bit in the glove box to plug your ipod or USB in to. I'm not 100% as to what system it is (2g, 3g or High, not even sure if i have got that right......) as there have been so many different posts i have seen.

I am looking to put the OEM Sat Nav system in my car (price isn't a massive issue, as I'm not doing it for resale)

I have found the items i need would be as bellow:-

CAN Gateway with (MOST) connector
MMI control head
Radio Module
AMP
MMI Control panel
MMI Display screen
DVD Navigation unit
New Telephone module with MOST connector (if fitted)
Fibre optic wiring harness
Power wiring harness

What my issue is i don't know what the part numbers are i would potentially require, what the prices would be or exactly what i would need to complete the seemingly impossible task.

In the boot, on the right hand compartment (fuse box area) i have also noticed there is a purple conector not attached to anything. Not sure if this is anything to do with the system.

Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers for that mate. I'll have a look when I get to work. Something to keep me busy haha

Right, I've taken the plunge brought a few parts for this Build/Retrofit:-

Kufatec 3g MMI wiring Harness - £300 ish....(B&O sound system option)
Control unit (Gear stick surround) - 8T1 919 609 F - £90
MMI 3G head unit - 8R2 0035 66 - £160
Gateway control unit - 8T0 907 468 K - £40
LCD screen - 8R0 919 604 - £55
DAB Radio (boot unit) - 4G0 035 061 Shark fin aerial - 8K2 035 503 E £package with other parts (Other parts which I will be selling) theses were wrong items as I jumped too fast without any research.
Aerial booster - 8K5 035 225 - £20
Radio mount bracket (centre consol)- 8K0 858 969 - £30
DAB radio Boot mount - 8T0 907 368

Already have Bluetooth and AMI in the glovebox, along with Audi Concert head unit.

I know there are a few other bits I need and need to get things coded on completion of fitting.

A couple of questions I have are:-

1. Currently I have the OEM B&O sound system. Looking in the boot of my mates car (which has B&O and what i understand to be the 3G+ system with Nav) i noticed that the Fibre Optic cable goes into there. Do i need to get a new Amp where i can put this in or is there a Bypass (or something) that I can buy instead?

2. Can anyone with OEM Sat Nav post a pic of wires which go into the square connection on the DAB radio. Pretty pretty please.....

3. If unable to do the above does anyone know the wires in/out and the associated colouring?

4. Does the fibre optic cable take place of most of the wires from front to rear? Thus negating the need for a harness from the head unit to the DAB radio in the boot.

I will be taking pics and writing up when i finally start.

Oh yeah, i also have VCDS and a cable to my laptop so how difficult is coding and protection removal on my own?

You might find you need another AMI module. The concert head unit ami is CAN based. The mmi ami is fibre.

I've ordered and awaiting the head unit (MMI 3G head unit - 8R2 0035 66 - £160). This has the 2 SD slots and CD/DVD drive.

So today I brought a B&O amp with fibre optic port...... Maybe a new sub woofer to replace the B&O one too. Only a few more things to arrive then I can start the retro fit.

You wont be able to remove componant protection. It needs a dealer as they check the part against the stolen data base. So make sure anything you buy isn't from a new seller on Ebay, as it could be a waste of money.

Thanks for the heads up. Is that on all parts. I saw that I needed component protection removed from the amp. I'll have to check everything now lol

Any part that has its own serial listed on VCDS.
When we rang Tamworth Audi to code the lads B&O amp in his A5 they said if the amp is flagged as stolen we have a policy to call the police and with hold the keys.

Yeah I understand that. The bonus of buying off of Ebay you always have a trail behind you (both receipt of perchance and who sold it) just point them in the direction of the seller. Although i guess its the bugerance factor of them holding your keys.......

Out of curiosity is there anybody on here that removes product protection? O anywhere in the West midlands? that can do this?

What if there was a way to completely bypass symphonys, concerts, MMI2/3G Highs & Lows, etc and (almost) instantly upgrade your B8 to a B9:

I've been following Daniel's progress for some time and what he has achieved almost single handedly is nothing short of exceptional... Have a look...

Hi people, just a couple of questions

1. Having the B&O sound system and the kufatec.co.uk wiring harness. Most of it seems pretty self explanatory, almost plug and play. With the kit it comes with a quad lock for the radio in the boot. I'm not sure of the requirements of wires I need to put in the quad lock. Am I right in thinking I only need positive, negative and wakeup/sleep wires. If so, what are the pin numbers?

2. Also I'm struggling to find what wires I need to splice into to provide power for the unit. (for the above functions)

3. Am I correct in thinking that the biggest plug on the B&O amp is for speakers, smaller one is power and such and the smallest (on the very left as you look, only two pins) is the fibre optic?

If any has used or knows of anyone that has used the kufatec.co.uk wiring harness and could help, with a pic of the connector and splicing that would be awesome.

Any help appreciated
Dave

P.s I'll do a build on here once I get round to fitment.

Thanks for that, looks interesting. Although as stated in the blurb. Not suitable for left hand traffic such as the United kingdom (where I live) so doesn't sound like it's ready for us bits yet.......

That's only because they haven't produced any YHD dashboard frames yet... They will if demand justifies it...
