Drove down to Bath at the weekend and my serpentine belt half came off. Amazingly half of it (width ways) is still on and held on for the 3 hours back home yesterday evening. Booked in the garage on Friday, just wondering if it's worth getting any other parts replaced at the same time for good measure while the bumper is off and access to the pullys etc. Is the snub down there as well? Seen a lot of people replace these so wondering if I should get that done too?

Car has been in the garage 2 days now and they can't break the tensioner bolt to get the seized tensioner off. Been soaking it in anti seize spray but he says it hasn't budged and obviously they don't want to thread it/snap it etc. Anyone got any ideas I can pass on to them?

Heat! Preferably an induction heating tool so they can localise heat it just the bolt and prevent damage to the other areas. However very few places have these tools and they cost circa £600, but worth their weight in gold when needed.

Another option is hit the bolt with an air hammer. The shock / vibration can help free up seized bolts.

A mix of heat and shock is ideal and will be 99.9% guaranteed to release it unless the threads are galled up / damaged already from when it was fitted by a monkey.

Got the car back finally after the garage having it since Friday. Seems with some perciveariance they managed to replace the tensioner. All in £312 for new belt, tensioner and labour. Not too bad.

Really?! The belt is £15 and tensioner is £60 from CarParts4Less, so you paid nearly £240 in labour?!?! I know the bolt was stuck, but that's ridiculous IMO.
