Facelift RS3 Genuine Secondary Cat Bypass Pipes

For me personally i like both. But it's a split decision for me as there is pros and cons to both for me. Such as dynamic indicators and matrix led on fl pro. Con RS badges on seats, floor mats and steering wheel where pfl had RS3 badges. Pfl pro and this will split opinions no virtual cockpit! I personally just want gauges to be just that gauges! Nothing more! Pfl con mmi quattro logic system is pants compared to new duel logic system with carplay. And obviously exhaust sounds better on pfl lol

@Tony-c- I know I've had a drink tonight, but that wasn't easy reading :readit::wtf:

No offence meant!!!!!! :)

I just meant the primary cat, I am glad the UK car's (at least with sports exhaust) seem to not have the secondary cats. I am just thinking of it being warranty safe if you left the one remaining cat in and effectively just replaced the backbox. Anyway I am a long, long way from that as the car's build date is still 11 weeks away. I would down and look at the exhausts between the standard and sports in my local centres cars, but I think I would get funny looks and I can't see them being happy with it.

The S3 will be going several weeks before the RS arrives, I am sure it will seem very loud to me when I get my hands on it.

Dealers will have no problem showing you difference between the two exhausts if you can find one with both! Problem is the only two cars we ever had in without them was both audi uk cars. All others had sports exhaust fitted.

I have a dealer 20 minutes away with both the Standard and Sports Exhaust on the showroom floor, with a new TTRS behind them too. They are being funny with me at the moment though because I ordered with another dealer... haha!

Do you think I could get an email from Audi UK/Warranty saying that an exhaust would not void the warranty if I leave the primary cat in? Just thinking because somebody on here has an email from Audi UK stating they can have their car serviced anywhere as long as it is under the manufacturer guidelines.

Oh that's great, thanks a lot for your help! Much appreciate your post, as nobody else have been able to say the UK car doesn't have the cat's.

Thank you - Please help me with this comment from a later post:

"Problem is the only two cars we ever had in without them was both audi uk cars. All others had sports exhaust fitted"

Are you saying you had two non sports exhaust cars in from Audi UK and they didn't have the cats fitted and were these FL or PFL?

Sorry Tony.......

It's ok feel free to ask questions. That is why we are all here after all!

These was pre face lift cars. The car in the pic was and is the only facelift car we have had in so far and is a customer order which is fitted with sports exhaust and has no pre cats. For some reason this time we are not getting any Audi uk cars just our customer allocations which all sold within the first week of orders opening. Sales manager deliberately kept one allocation back to put on as a demo which is what i was going to take as is still spec amendable. Won't be till next year that we will get more allocations if we get anymore. Last time with the pre facelift we got two audi uk cars and ten allocations then they stopped production.

They have made all the FL exhaust a lot quiter so we will have to buy:

TBH I for one am not fussed that the FL exhaust is quieter, and from hearing all the video reviews of the FL the new exhaust sound the nuts! even if it is a little quieter. I'm buying the RS3 for the whole package not just the noise (which will still be way better than any opposition). And frankly I want a car that hammers rivals and doesn't scream 'look at me' bang bang pop pop - its a bit old school just like my old mini with a Janspeed on it !!

Well if Audi Sport do offer an Akrapovic exhaust system for the FL RS3, what should folk have ordered in the first instance, sports exhaust or non sports exhaust?

I bet the sport exhaust people will be upset. Inless its just a back box that will fit both ?

I've already prepared myself to pay for a new exhaust down the line, but I'm not taking the sports exhaust off of the factory option list because on the PFL it affected the amount of pops too and it still sounds better than the non-sports/

In the PFL i think I also changed something in the engine mapping....

@Tony-c- Little bit off topic, but I figured you'd be the best man to ask. When the cars are transported from Factory to Centre, do they have any limitation in place to stop the people at the ports thrashing them? I was once told the car had a different map like it was in limp mode?

They are in transport mode until they go through PDI at the dealership, you can't rev over 4krpm in transport mode

Hi Aoon, I don't suppose you've had chance to view or even drive a FL car yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

I'm not old enough for a dealership to chuck me the keys of anything over 2.0 unfortunately, and I have no interest on being taken on a passenger seat test drive lol.

My friend takes delivery of his saloon on the 8th of September so I look forward to taking it out :) We will be gutting all the cats in week 1 lol.

Serious? I'd have thought a man with your contacts could sort a drive ;) I managed to get an RS3 loaned to me for the day when I was 18!! I just had to provide insurance myself, which is easy enough. I've taken countless cars out with Audi, S5, S3, RS5, RS4, RS3.. all under their insurance with a salesman.

Looking forward to my dealer getting a demo, it's already part of the deal that I take it out for the day.

That's good news about you getting to work on one soon, hopeful of a fix for the sound.... can see it being an aftermarket exhaust.

Its a lot of aggro for a test drive to insure it yourself etc tbh, the only thing that interests me really is the dynamics of the car, I plan on getting the facelift 4wd/abs/dsg modules and having them retrofitted, as I've been told there have been some software changes in the modules

As Aoon_M says in transport mode can't go above 4krpm and u'll just about make 25mph max speed. Also suspension blocks are fitted to springs/shocks to raise and lock suspension to go on and off transporter to stop it bottoming out. so you wouldn't want to drive fast anyway as there is no movement in suspension

Oh right cool, thanks for clarifying. I've always worried that the workers at the ports will drive the cars flat out from one place to another.

Do you just have to plug the car in and upload software to it then? :) Is a test drive compulsory for PDI? I've asked my dealer to not drive it for PDI if possible because the car is being transported to have PPF, defeats the object if they take it out and pick up a chip!!

It will arrive with about 50 miles on the clock "they all do that Sir" .

My S3 had 17 miles on the clock in the showroom, 18 on collection day.

I've seen an RS3 with 28 miles on the clock, was amazed at that.

They say the RS' get a road test at the factory, is this a race track road test or a steady plod around their test circuits? Who knows.

I'm wondering what a full backbox delete would do to the car.... Hm, that should get some noise back :lmfao:

Keep the valves of course.

It's already programmed into the car. Just turn it off using odis. Can be turned back on if vehicle is to be put in storage as it turns off most control units. It's part of the pdi process on pdi sheet however you can ask for it not to be test driven. Same with protective covers. Need to remove to check for damage but people ask for them to be left on aswell as they want to use own detailer. It will have to be driven to a fuel station however if you want fuel in the car lol RS products always come delivered with at least 30-40 miles on clock as they all get extended roadtest at factory. Usually on a closed track but some do venture out sometimes for quality control. Highest milage i've ever seen on pdi was a RS4 came in with 103 miles!

If you have anymore questions just mail me.

Thanks for that, much appreciated and now I know I can ask them not to drive it. I have told them to leave the covers on, but I am worried it will be my luck that it is damaged underneath so I will take them off for handover day and then when it goes on the transporter I will put the bonnet and roof protection back on.

I think I will opt out of the fuel, it will only be cheap stuff anyway and I always put V Power in haha.
