Out in my mates new A3 tonight, noticed his kerb side mirror does not dip when in reverse.

Is this something you need to "turn on"? Couldn't see anything in settings!

Also, why is the Radio screen so boring on the MMI screen? When in Dab mode you just get the station logo, where's the now playing info, show info etc.. seems like most of the screen real estate is going to waste - again is this something that be adjusted in settings somewhere?

Still a week away from collecting my car so haven't had the chance to play with all the settings myself yet.. be good to get familiar before collection day.

Kerbside mirror will only dip if the control knob on the driver's door is in the correct position - 10 o'clock.

As mentioned above, passenger mirror needs to be configured to the right position while the dial is at 10 o'clock, and left there. There's a YouTube guide on how to configure I believe. Also worth mentioning electric folding mirrors need to be specced.

As for the radio, coming from a 2013 tech pack A3, I know there are settings for the DAB radio. I believe they are accessible by clicking the radio tab, and then one of the four corner buttons should lead to settings. There are things such as reduced display, traffic program and station info. Again, when using the radio, another one of the corners I believe will say "info"???

Forgive me if I am wrong, as it is hard to do from memory, however comes naturally when using the system!

Have a play around when you get the car, see what you can find. Enjoy!

Not for a facelift. Mine has the pauper-spec mirrors and I was able to set the kerbside dip using Carista.

The m.o. is the same, though - turn the mirror knob to 10 o'clock, engage reverse and Robert's your mother's brother.

It's actually one of the few useful things you can do with Carista to a facelift car - that and get the oil temperature in the DIS.

Not fussed about needle sweeps and showy stuff like that.

My days of trying to impress a young lady passenger are depressingly distant, and Mrs Phutters couldn't give a toot about such things, gawd bless 'er.

Yeah if you don't fiddle with your electrics which so many do you still need to option folding mirrors for the mirror to dip straight from the factory

The radio info screen is very bland looking, you can set it to show all stations or just the specific one your listening too that's on the pre-FL is the FL the same

VCDS or that carista app will do it and yes you can't dip the reversing door mirror without optioning folding wing mirrors

Really ? I am ready to be corrected on this, but I'm sure that there are members on here that have enabled dip without having folding mirrors (PFL).

But you didn't spec it & it didn't work without Carista so the comment you quoted by @SamP97 was essentially correct... I think the tech is there but it needs to be activated to be used.... might be wrong...

Whatever. I wouldn't count using Carista to enable mirror dip as 'fiddling with my electrics', but what do I know?

Can I assume you're equally disparaging of everyone on here who has ever changed a stock setting - any. stock setting - using Carista, VCDS or anything else?

And in hindsight, I may well have misinterpreted what Sam said in the post to which I responded.

If I did, and it coloured my reply as a consequence, then I apologise.

Yes there are members on here that didn't buy the option of folding mirrors, but the electronics still need fiddled with /enabled

10 o clock position for dipped mirror functionality

however if I want heated mirrors to be on as well I have to manually rotate to 4 I clock each time? What utter rubbish design is this?
