US guy bought and sold a facelift Rs3 in a week.

Saw this on another thread.

He expected too much of the car, it's an everyday car that is designed to be comfortable. It drives like an A3, because it is an A3!

You can't have somebody say the throttle response is lazy, when they are used to driving a Lamborghini.

Surprised the driving feel he was talking about are the exact same problems with the S3 - seems like he needed a stage 1 fix as it should add that extra torque feel and whatnot.

With a cheap sprintbooster he would have solved that.....

He wasn't interested, he didn't even know what the Virtual Cockpit was called. I don't know about you but spending that amount of money, I know what the options are in my car!

I don't know what car he drove. But mine in manual jumps off the line the moment my foot touches the accelerator. My A3 had at LEAST a half second delay. 2017 RS3 - Zero.

He drive it everywhere in D mode too by the way. He didn't like sport mode since it shifts too high. Hell, i haven't even used D mode. I use Manual mode with paddles 100% of the time and there is absolutely no pedal lag at low speeds like the old cars in that mode.

The guy was coming from a perspective that 99.9% of us won't have. We don't drive Lamborghini's and have an abundance of cars, I can't wait to drive one.. even all the usual biased car reviewers have left great reviews.

As @AudiNutta stated on the other thread, it was a hard watch and I started skipping it before Matt did. Obviously its up to every individual what they do with there own hard earned cash, but it was hard to believe his attitude and he supposedly makes his money as a financial geezer!! It would appear he didn't put his brain in gear on that purchase..........

To do 150 miles in a car and say that you are ready to sell it because it's rubbish, can only come from a fool.

I am sorry, but this dude does not a) know anything about cars, b) own a Lamborghini and c)does not own a Mustang GT. Yes he owns a Corolla - it is plain to see, but the rest does not fit in with the neighbourhood, or him.
I have not watched the whole clip, but skipping through it in four places, he is just not the type!

I can't believe I watched 15 minutes of it hoping for it to get better. He started off saying he wouldn't the negative, I can't remember a point where he wasn't. What a pleb.

There are plenty of videos of his Lamborghini.

The point is - from my perspective - he has a super fast car already that is made for performance and he doesn’t love it as a result.

He is very simply thinking that he can save money getting another car and he doesn’t need as fast RS as he has the lambo.

As for if he keeps this Mustang he will replace it with - who knows - he complained about torque low down - and I wouldn’t be surprised if the non turbo mustang would fix that (and also drink twice as much fuel)...

Or, has he borrowed a Lamborghini and made a few videos..? Sorry, but the guy does not have the presence, nor does he speak knowledgeably nor does his neighbourhood give him any credence. In my eyes anyway. I know people with supercars and he just does not come across the same.

He has the mustang already, and he put putts around in it in drive mode with one hand on the wheel... he also says its much better than the RS unless you 'Floor it'

:)

I went out in the new UK Mustang.. it was wet.. ****** hell, proper dangerous car. If it wasn't for that and the back being cramped it was great.

I haven't watched the above video. Don't need to. If he has a Lambo then the RS3 will seem crap. It's about the 'experience' - this is where the new RS3, M4, etc fail (if you have been lucky to have driven 80s/90s sports cars or supercars). Nostalgia and inherent bias also plays a part and I do agreen that he was expecting something he shouldn't have with the RS3.

I actually watched it, I have no life and I'm still addicted to any RS3 video.

I can see where he's coming from, the RS3 isn't exactly hardcore but isn't that the point? It's a sleeper sports sedan, it's not supposed to chop your head off every time you step on the gas pedal.

I don't disagree if someone says the normal D mode is too sedate, I have to push it hard to get any excitement out of D. Ideally I would prefer something between D and S for daily driving, so I usually shift myself.

Still, who buys a car brand new and returns it within a week? Even wealthy people wouldn't take that kind of hit, that's how they stay wealthy. :D

I do hope he tried out launch control before selling the car because I just did a few days ago and, holy smokes. I've had the car for s month but LC completely changes the way it accelerates to another level. My old car was a Mk6 GTI and launch control didn't do a lot.

I ain't never tried launch control, perhaps before I hand over the RS Q3 I ought to give it a go and see just how different it is to just burying the loud pedal :)

.

Only bloke I know who has ever done that was many years ago. Bought himself a brand new Sierra Sapphire Cosworth (2wd) and scared himself silly within the first week. Returned it and drove away in a Granada instead. :tearsofjoy:

Ah - OK, I can join him on that! A couple of years back, I fancied a Yamaha R1. (Now, bear in mind here the last bike I rode was a Honda 300 in the eighties... ) bought it for 6k - rode it for a mile and scared myself silly. Sold it the next day for 4k! The most expensive, and scariest, mile I have ever travelled!

Why such a big hit on the price for one day?!

The older R1s were more raw AKA dangerous. I have ridden the new R1 and it is ****** fast but there is a lot of electrickery to save incompetent riders such as myself. The scariest bike I rode is the KTM 1290 SuperDuke - should be illegal. I had to get off it whilst doing a video review to catch my breath and get back in touch with reality.

In fact, here is a clip.. :)

Damn, I miss bikes.
