Cheers, Im guessing this is actually likely to be a wiring issue, supply or earth to the sensors , as opposed to both the sensors themselves being faulty??

BTW there is an adaptation process for the steering angle sensor, which could be the problem if the steering wheel has been taken off in the past.

I have the same issue currently, my scan says rear right sensor £110 from TPS .

OK chaps here is the situation, I have tried to clear the codes. The steering angle sensor one has now gone. I am left with 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Right (G44) 30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent.
Now here is the interesting thing, when I go into measuring blocks it tells me with the car competently stationary that all four wheels are turning at 1 kph !!! - all 4 wheels should measure zero if the car isn't going anywhere surly ???
. I've driven the car down the road with a passenger monitoring the measuring blocks for ABS speed sensors and they all go up equally as they should when driven in a straight line but when cars at a complete stand still they all ready 1 km/h ??!!!
This leads me to believe that it is not just one rear sensor which is shot (Normally with one sensor down it will show 0 kph on the shot sensor wheel measuring block whilst the other three wheels will increase with speed equally.)
I think my next step will be to measure the continuity of the rear right speed sensor that VAG-com is saying is defective, if I get the same reading from this allegedly defective sensor as another then its seem likely to me a wiring fault somewhere which aint good news as will be a right *unt to find!!!!
I'm not in the business of just replacing the sensor in the hope that it cures the problem as they are not that cheap and tend to be well and truly seized in place.
Any views?

I guess it's get your Multimeter on it, & see how it meters against the others.

I wonder whether it could be a short causing resisitence & effecting readings.
I had an aftermarket CTS fail that caused the fuel gauge to read incorrectly too. Stuck a new VAG CTS in & all was ok again.

cheers, yeah i might as well get that sorted as a starting point as its needs doing and is an easy fix

the problem turned out to be an abs reluctor ring which was rusted to bits, hub renewed and problem solved. Be sure to check this ring out before spending money on abs sensor

on my audi 80 , i would wiggle the sensor with plumbers pliers , and use 400 grit to clean the surface of the sensor , it worked well , worth a go for nothing ?
