Hi guys
Not been on for a few years but struggling with the new motor. I've had a month or 2

Basically the turbo hisses like a air leak and has a slight police siren when dropping back down . But the strange thing about it is, it only happens when I put the throttle down about a cm around 1800rpm to 2000rpm. Once I've passed the 2000rpm the hiss has gone. it's not a normal turbo spool as it's too loud for a standard car.

So basically I removed and fit new seals on all the pipes and even fit a brand new turbo. Egr delete. but it's still the same.

So if am just cruising with the throttle only just applied it hisses. Soon as I floor it or even apply the throttle 2cm it's gone

Bkd 140

Has any body else had same issues
Thanks

I had exactly the same issue on the same engine. Sold it without ever getting to the bottom of it, hopefully someone here will have a solution.

I have an A3 with BKD 140 engine, never noticed a hiss but the turbo does sound like a police car and its noisey as hell so that would drown out any small hiss haha, been like it for 4 years and still pulls as well now as it did when i bought the car.

I have this issue when it is on low revs/low speeds and it seems to dissapear when you're going at a faster pace. The issue seemed to arise after a remap. Right pain when going through a village but as the others have said it seems to pull fine.

Cheers lads. I've got a mate to hold the revs at 2k rpm and the hiss noise is there like when driving. Sounds to be coming around the intake flexi from the maf sensor. If I put my hand over it the hiss goes quite. Removed and pressurised it and no leaks so fitted it back and and the same again. Any chance you could try the same with yours. Maybe a bar on the throttle to hold at 2000 rpm while u have a listen

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Did anyone find a way to cure the turbo hiss/siren noise when at low revs?

Mine has been hissing and sounding like a police siren for the last 5-6 years. Remapped also.
Pulls well and no errors.
Does not bother me anymore but people in the street will sometimes turn their heads :busted cop:

I know what you mean. Its worse when going along slowly but as you said remap is still pull well with no errors
